Great that we got another player in but less game time for Jones.

I wonder how much difference it's actually going to make TBH. The fact that Jones hasn't been getting that time despite injuries elsewhere in the squad tells its own story about how the management see him, currently at any rate.

Jones has been injured himself no?

Fucks sake guys. Give the lad a chance. He’s signed for us, he’s now a red and we should be wishing him well.

it’s not like we signed a Gillingham Ressie, this is a Brazilian international that’s played in the top teams of two of the top leagues of Europe for 3-4 years

This. You are all gonna be pleasantly surprised. This is a good signing.

Was this a Klopp signing or was it one where Gordon and Ward said, "this is best we can do, you'll have to work with it"?
Chan, Gini, Div all walked for free, and now it seems Naby, Ox and Bobby will all walk out for free. Thats nigh on £100m down the pan

This also means either one of Keita or Ox will be put on the transfer market very soon.

Melo's clearly bought as a squad player and my guess is that he'll be replacing Ox, i.e. if anyone wants him.

Eh? The market has ended and if they go in Jan (which is unlikely), it'll be for a nominal fee.

Hopefully we can get a couple freebies ourselves next summar. Some decent players becoming available.

Yeah, I think its more that we've given up on them being fit for much part of the last months of their contracts.

We have a injury ridden midfield, and we then sign an injury ridden midfielder, can you see why people might be down? Effectively after 2 or 3 games, we will have signed no one because this guy will be out till Jan

Yeah, even if they go, you'd still have to replace them.

I still think we'd go big on Jude either in Jan or the next window, which seem the more likely.

Yes, but not the whole time. He's been on the bench quite frequently without getting much, if any, game time on those occasions. My reading of it is that Klopp and his coaches don't think Jones has shown enough quality often enough when chances have come his way and, if that's the case, I'm afraid I think they're right.

Jones is likely a talent bracket below Elliott and maybe Carvalho, but there's plenty more to come from him. He's needs some injury free spells, opportunities in the cups, and to start moving the ball faster.

There's no need to rush to judgement on him at 21, especially in the context of an aging and injury-prone midfield.

I think this is the key to his development - if he masters this, I actually think there's quite a player there. He's got a good engine, tough, good passer and a good shot - but he's mentally slow ...

The other point worth making (again) is that we don't necessarily need Jones to be good enough to be a guaranteed starter.

If he can stay fit and contribute as a squaddie (which he's definitely got the talent for), that's still a big win for us (assuming he's happy to play that role).

Look at our star,
he's on a loan that's true,
but he'll score a goal or two,
and his name is Melo

Better than Chris fuckin Martin anyway.
I like that.

Would change the last line to;
His name is Arthur Melo…

You can pay me later..

Doesn't look too dissimilar to Thiago in terms of stature, ability to turn and having good close control. He's also got that ability to stroke the ball about effortlessly. His game does look a bit slow and methodical, but he will hopefully get up to speed. It's a bit of a project signing, we know there's talent there, it's down to Klopp to make him realise it. Too many times we've given players a sort of last chance saloon opportunity and they've failed, let's hope this lad feels like he's finally at home with a big club.
