So what do we make of their threat this season? If they're going to spend big to try to take advantage of City, United and Chelsea starting again with new managers, does Wenger still have it in him to get amongst the thick of it? Or will they continue to win half their games 6-0 and lose the rest against anyone who can put a tackle in?

I guess it all depends on who they buy. Wenger seems to have lost his golden touch in the transfer market but he does seem able to get his teams to play above expectations (just not consistently enough to challenge).

Who are they buying ?

Arsene's biggest mistakes have come when he's had money to spend so you'd be hoping he fucks up some of his spending.
Lack of funds is a great motivator for teams to find talent elsewhere, but a lot of cubs become horribly lazy when they have too much money so they never take advantage of their money (hello LFC!). I don't think his approach will change all that much - I can't see him going for short term expensive signings - like those managers that everyone loves do - Rafa, Mourinho, Redknapp, O'Neill etc etc.

I think he'll stick with the approach that kept Arsenal in the CL spots, but now he's got a much wider range of options open to him which. That combined with their FFP position makes them very dangerous over the next few years

They might start out great and then fade, or start out poorly and then improve. And Wenger will appear even more neurotic than ever. I wish they'd go away.

Higuain is going somewhere else isnt he? As is Jovetic apperantly.

Will be interesting to see who they bring in, but they'll be around fighting for 3rd/4th as usual. We obvs need to finish above them.

You'd think they'll finish top 4 again next year as they do every year, but with us nailed on to win the league they might drop out.

wenger will be one of the few managers of a bog team who will be part of a 'settled' team, he'll have a great chance to have a pop at the title.

Chatting to a Gooner mate who reckons they're in for Higuain and Fellaini.

They'd be very good pick ups for them, Fellaini especially

I thought Higuain was a done deal at this point? That would be a huge signing for them as he is a great finisher.

Thankfully they seem to be ignoring their weakest point, their completely lacklustre defense and goalkeeper. I'm guessing if Felony join he'll play in central midfield, is he as effective there as when he plays off the striker? Fantastic player, dont get me wrong, but he doesn't seem to suit the way Arsenal play, he thrives on knockdowns after all.

Wenger continues to get his team to play good football and get results consistently after selling off their best players. Depending on who he gets in and what they add to the team, I expect the Gooners to be challenging even though they may not win it.

Arsenal think that they're the Barcelona of English football without the trophies. 😀

They don't count.

They don't win stuff.

They play in a concrete silo with a giant silencer surrounding it.

Tippy tappy bellends with reminders of past glories stuck on the upper tier of the concrete silo in an effort to inspire the current crop, that doesn't work.

For a supposedly stylish nation what is a frenchman doing wearing a duvet?

They're all wrong.

Yup.

We need to look at the mirror where recent success on the field is concern.

What we hate about Arsenal seems to apply equally for LFC

Not true, Arsenal fans can be a bunch of idiots, thinking they're the footballing mecca, and that everyone owes them a debt of gratitude for playing such pure football.

LFC fans think that our history puts us at the top of the hill and everyone else should bow down to the king of English football club.

They need a goalkeeper, half a dozen defenders, and some midfielders that aren't gay.

They won't get any of that, Wenger will buy 3 or 4 little fags and they'll finish 20 points off the league winners.

Sounds uncannily just like us then !!

Wilshire or Arteta would get into our midfield, their defence is a shambles though

Wenger's net spend has been around £900k per season over 10 years, yet they've more often than not finished above us. They seem to loose star players constantly yet still manage to qualify for CL. The same cannot be aid for us!!!
