Just a simple poll, no need to discuss it. Everything that needs to be said has been said.

(Couldn't add a poll to the other thread hence this)

Since we cannot get a penny out of him let him play till he gets broken down again in the unimportant matches and then bin him till contract runs out.

He's right Modo. I don't share the same hatred of you that quite a few others do as you know, but I've got to say that this thread was a painfully shit idea.
He's somewhat right. But I can't remove it. Hence "whatever".
The reason I put the "other" option there was if someone had something else to say than Yes or No.
It's been done to death, I know, but I would like to see if the majority of the posters here want him out.

It's a pointless means to justify in your own mind the idea of bringing him back, even though he's clearly not wanted here, doesn't really suit the league and he couldn't wait to get back to Italy.

It's been done to death, mostly by yourself. You like him and wish he hadn't gone, we get it. He won't come back and it's fruitless posting polls about it. People will probably just end up posting no because they're so fucked off going around in circles about it.

I mean, there's another thread about him four posts down on the forum, by guess who??!

this is a big issue for me,

meireles and aqua were shipped out because it was deemed they would offer little to no protection to the defenders and bottle it when we are under the cosh, well, has adam been any better in this regard?

I don't think that was the reason at all Neil, even though you've said it a few times now. Kenny said Aqua was told he would be competing with Gerrard, same reason Shelvey was allowed to go on loan (and then brought back when Stevie got injured). As for Meireles, it's debatable whether he was shipped out, we probably saw him as a sellable asset, but he handed in the transfer request to go and play for a Portuguese coach. Do you think that wasn't a big factor?

I was sorry to Meireles go as we've lacked movement this season in midfield and a player that will make runs from deep into attacking positions to score, but I don't think it was entirely a case of us booting him out.

If I see you selling the "Issue" I promise to stop and buy one. 😉

Ultimately no, the Adam deal hasn't clicked. Doesn't change the fact, and it is a fact, that neither of those other two were worth a light defensively. I'd have kept Meireles had that been possible (see Mark's post above) because I think he improved us going forward, but there's no doubt that we'd have had to cover for his defensive flimsiness.

I see it like this;
aqua and adam are going to give you fuck all defensively so who is going to give you more going forwards? that's the player you play.

But again that assumes that those are the only 2 players we can have! What's wrong with getting rid of both and buying someone better?

Zackly. You don't play either one if neither is going to give you enough. Aquilani has the ability, but nowhere near the desire and mental toughness, for the Prem.

I've never been totally convinced that he wouldn't have been willing to stay, as that Jen Chang bloke suggested the other night. If that was the case then we might as well just have kept him the last 2 years, and keep him this summer as well. He's obviously got major major faults as a player and a professional, but given our lack of quality in creative positions and Gerrard's frequent injuries, we could have got plenty of use out of him. And we still could.

If, though, if. That's the question.

By yours truly, I guess and that's the reason for the poll.
I and about three others (Lewy, Oncey, HC) are pretty much the only ones who've been his vocal support here and I really just wanted to see if there were more posters here who wouldn't mind him returning.

But the discussion seems to have been transferred to this thread now so, if the MODS want to close this or the other thread or merge them, they've got my blessing.

I don't get kenny sometimes, we dominate possession, play a high pressing game, quick interchanges with a cluster of players in tight areas...and he shipped out ming and aqua and bought adam, one of the worst wasters of the ball I've ever had the misfortune of clapping eyes on.

Modo, I accept the reasons why he hasn't made it here, and I don't think it's all been his doing, and up until recently I was always fairly vocal about us keeping him, I do think he's a good player.

we'll have no room for him when we sign javi martinez 😉

Good to know.

Peatcheo and Vlad have also been supporters in the past. Dunno about now.
I love him, and have watched his since the U17's hes class and better than any of our other midfielders bar Gerrard and Maxi, so why wouldnt we get him back?
The Adam and Henderson for Meireles, Cole and Aquilani swap was a joke and a flop clearly.

I wouldn't say I'd 'welcome' him back, because I still don't know if he's really suited to our league, but I'd be fascinated to see him try.
