- Wenger must have done his tieknot up in the dark.
- Sometimes injuries rob us of ever seeing how good a player could have been. I think David Dunn's one of those. Always liked him.
- So Blackburn are the new Bolton then. Lump absolutely everything up to a big man, and get four or five around for the breaking ball. Can you imagine if Fat Sam had have got the England job that time?
- Unlucky for Sunderland, but shitty own goals happen if you're standing on the edge of the 6 yard box trying to defend.
- I really like that Asian kid playing for Bolton. What's his name?
- Steve Bruce has bought well. Cattermole, Cana, Bent. That and getting Jones back to form, and Andy Reid slim is an impressive start.
- Anyone see the Old Firm game? Absolute domination from Celtic, and they still lost.
- Only a few more weeks to go for the cold weather to kick in and for Geovanni to get shit again.
- Burnley at home. Played 4, won 4, only 2 goals conceded.
- Who on here rated Ben Foster?
- What else?

It'd cost them a fortune to pay him out though.

-There will never be a game with as many beautiful goals as the Arsenal game.
I hate how often i end up going on about Arsenal, but fucking hell what a masterclass today.
Fabregas with the perfect midfield performance and goal of the season contenders from Bendtner, Walcott (jairzinho), Vermealen, Arshavin and Fabregas himself.
What a fucking game. What a team when theyre on song.

Me too.

I would add, Thomas Vermaelen must be the best deep-lying centre forward in the game. Imagine him and Agger at the back.

Going forward yes.

But they conceded 2 yesterday, and it could have easily been 5. I thought Dunn should have had a penalty, he also should have scored when he was through late on and whacked it straight at Mannone, and that young kid hit the post too.

Gallas is fucking done as a top-flight centre-back, I'm not overly convinced by Vermaelen as a defender, their full-backs don't tuck in well enough, and they've got no good goalkeepers. They'll concede goals to sides all season long.

Still, as you say - wonderful going forward.

I can't speak highly enough of Van Persie. I could watch him play all day long, and still not get tired. He's a fucking beautiful footballer.

-Keiran Richardson should not have been sent off.
Nope. If you watch it again, the whistle blows and richardson is running with the ball. When he finally stops he's 20yards further up the pitch. Evra runs up to try to take the kick from right there and Richardson kicks the ball STRAIGHT to where the kick should be taken from. He doesnt kick it away he kicks it towards.

It reminded me of Denis Irwin's at Anfield a few years back when, like Richardson, he didn't do much but he did flick it away from the closest opposition player.

Harsh on both counts.
Exactly so Ryan. The rule isnt 'you cant kick it back to where the free kick should be taken from IF an opposition player wants to get the ball'
richardson did absolutely nothing wrong. It was a bad decision. I can see why the ref gave it, but he got it wrong.

Another thing - I thought the refereeing performance in our game yesterday was excellent.

Not quite no. Ferdinand was in a very similar incident a little earlier and received a yellow, and Wiley decided he wanted to implement consistency into his decisions for Utd's opponents, when a good old warning and talking to should've been sufficient. Putting my objective hat on, it was an inaccurate pass if he was delivering it to the spot where the foul took place. It's such a daft sending off. Some weeks you see the most excruciating tackle and not even a yellow card is shown, then this. I wish referees would apply some common sense into the game instead of trying to score brownie points .

- Tuncay. "At 6M, he's definitely worth a punt" was the summer-long cry. He doesn't even get off the bench for fucking Stoke.

And Masher could hardly even get into West Ham's match day squad let alone the starting eleven. Some manager's just don't see how to insert certain player's into their team, being more worried about disruption to what they've got going.

Slight difference in that Tuncay has been playing in the Premier League for 3 years, whereas Mascher was straight off the boat.

Also, it's probably not worth drawing comparisons between the captain of Argentina, and some greasy Turk that can't get on for Stoke.

Wenger's tieknot BTW...

Really? I thought he gave Chelsea a few needless free's in the middle of the park which was only disrupting the game. He didn't have anything to do in the game and his only major decision was not to award us a penalty. A decision that we could feel a little agrieved not to get.

Ha, I noticed that as well. That's actually a good picture of it because it seemed that for most of the game, the bit behind was longer than it should be.

I thought the ref was poor at times. He bottled the penalty decision and gave some very questionable free kicks.

Did anyone see Casillas's save early in the second half? It was easily one of the best saves I've ever seen.

Yeah I commented on this, a few people in the pub were a bit miffed with him, fuck knows why. The only criticism I'd have made was regarding the corner when their player was stood only a few yards away and charged the ball down, other than that I think the ref had a steady, fair game.

Burnley continue to surprise me. Having been a Turf Moor regular over the last 3 seasons I fully expected them to struggle badly this season! I still think they will go down but am a lot less sure of this than I was 2 months ago.

Shaun Maloney was brought down twice against Rangers and should have been awarded 2 penalties but instead the ref twice accused him of diving and to add insult to injury booked him for the second one. Very unfortunate young man.

The fact that Ipswich have a good squad speaks volumes for Keane's selection and tactical errors - he has to go.

How is John Barnes still in a job at Tranmere? Who was the poster who recently suggested Barnes could be a future Liverpool manager?

Good luck to Stan Staunton, the new Darlington manager.
