There's a lot of shit SoS get on here.

Some of it deserved, some of it not so much, & they never get anywhere near the credit they deserve for fucking up the re-crediting plans of the two robbing bastard yanks. It's certain that at least two of the places they approached that would normally have backed Hicks pulled out due to some very stringent, incredibly swift & almost militant action against them, yet on here there were regarded as just a lot of noise, some even falling for the horribly insensitive Purslow line 'Sons of Strikers'.

However, regardless of your opinion previously, this is easily their best idea to date, it's inclusive, sensible, has been well thought through (as far as I can see), & gives all parties incentives to make it happen.

I'd like this to be taken seriously by the clubs & the council, some of the elements are simply what many of us have been crying out for over the years, how there isn't a mapped out area of Stanley Park dedicated to fans & the grounds, & commercial premises aimed at servicing both sets of fans is beyond me. Whilst I love the pubs that exist there now, it's clear there is a new breed of fans that these simply don't connect to those & would appreciate newer modern bars in a more modern setting. As for hotels, the land there is amongst the cheapest in the city, & there is a massive customer base simply crying out for somewhere to stay, the opportunity is harder to ignore than do something about.

Like I said, I think this has real scope, & the fact KEIOC & SoS have linked to form it proves how important this is to both sets of fans, I only hope the clubs hierarchies can respectively push the council to push it to enable it to happen. That's the killer for me, it needs little financial backing from the clubs, simply the regeneration monies they already provide in spades, it just needs the council's backing to allow them to use these funds on the surrounding area, as opposed to where they think it's needed (for example they currently charge the clubs for such things as all year round street cleaning, a large chunk of street cleaning, & road upkeep as well as a myriad of other things most clubs don't pay across the country).

Feel free to pick this apart as you choose, but don't turn this into a debate about SoS & what's happened previously, if you want to do that do it in another thread.

Just as long as it isn't a Trojan Horse aimed at bringing about a groundshare in the end.

Highly unlikely, as both KEIOC & SoS are committed to not allowing that to happen, so they wouldn't be part of it.

As for the council, once they can see we're pushing ahead with Stanley Park, they're faced with this, & the potential revenue it brings to the city & regeneration to the area, or being left out in the cold.

Like I say, if both clubs push this, the council are faced with little regeneration to the area or the clubs funding regeneration on their terms. They'd be over a barrel. Whether both clubs can collaborate to force their hand is another matter.
