We dont sign players like Alexis Sanchez.
Not ever.
We dont sign world class players from Barcelona, Madrid, Bayern etc.
We sign players from Sociedad and Southampton and Levante.
Stop fucking kidding yourselves.
This is ridiculous.

Get Griezmann, Cuardrado or Iturbe NOW before they go to Barcelona or Madrid and become impossible to buy.

How dare you say that Little Luis wasn't class!

I'd say it's probably easier to sign a great player moving down from a giant club than a great player moving up from a medium club. Or at least no harder.

Sanchez looked like a real leader against Brazil and very much capable of leading the line. The italian commentator (I'm in Italy right now and watching with the local commentary) said that Sanchez recently said he doesn't feel comfortable playing on the wing, wants to be in the middle.

He's one of the few players I see as a replacement for Luis. You wont get the same amount of goals although playing him central could get you 20 maybe.

Work rate, attitude, assists and the ability to make something happen. Great player.

Surely two of those three are already impossible to buy. They will be after the World Cup.

Griezmann is already on his way somewhere I think. I'm sure I posted it in the Transfer Thread. Cuardrado is the one I've love - what talent !

@FutbolSergi: You won't find a journo as dependable as Xavi Torres. Has inside sources [at Barça]. He said Alexis hasn't made a decision yet.

@barcastuff: Barcelona plan to make opening bid of "30M + 6-7M incentives + Alexis" for Liverpool's Luis Suarez. Clubs will talk in coming days. [sport]

I think i would take that.
Honestly we need to move on.
Whats Sanchez 25m
Thats 55mish

For a damaged asset. I think its probably as good as its gonna get.

Sanchez is more than 25m

I wouldn't be massively opposed to it myself.

Maybe not massively, but come on, fellas - it's an opening bid. No WAY should we settle for it, especially when a subsequent acceptable bid is probably within reach.

I think they will offer 30m regardless, they'll just try and bump up the value of Sanchez, and after this world cup, his value is probably 35-40m.

I honestly don't believe Barca will stump up more cash

They can fuck off with that offer. 55m for suarez? And the rest mate. He's worth a minimum 70m. Anything less is a joke. Suarez is most probably the 3rd best player in the world right now. 50m and sanchez and then its closer to his worth.

Sanchez - 35M
Incentives - 7M
Cash - 30M

That's 72M to start. Actually in some ways it's not far off but we'll get quite a bit more I think, somewhere around 80-85M. Bump the cash up to 35M and incentives to 15M.

No way should we accept their first offer. They wouldn't expect us to, which is precisely why we should demand more. They'll obviously go higher. Besides, being a cunt is almost a prerequisite where Barca and Madrid are concerned, so I don't think the bitey stuff is as important.

Their president basically said as much in comments the other day.

He said they still wanted Suarez & used eto as an example, said they must have developed him into a better person cos he won three cl medals...

Cos that's how everyone evaluates how good a person is, by their personal achievements & wealth. Odd view that, coming from a non American at least.

Apologies to our us posters, I know that's a nasty stereotype that doesn't apply to all of you!

I'd be surprised if anyone coughed up 35M for Sanchez so I don't think they can get away with valuing him at that.

They've given Fabregas away for 30M. Sanchez isn't worth more than him. 25-30M is the top end unless someone goes mad and tries to make some sort of a statement with his signing.

You'll never know...

If, as is widely reported, his escape clause has been set at 80 million Euro, then this offer is on the money.

It is, but if it's incentive based, we have a bare minimum requirement of £65m which is what would be required to trigger the clause, incentives wouldn't be inclusive in activating his buy out. So they will probably offer £30m (now) plus Sanchez (over valuing him), which is where we should tell them to do one. They don't want him, so they can't justifiably ask for more than what they paid for him initially, which according to Barca was about £20m plus incentives.

The fair amount, as we all probably know, is around £40m-£50m plus Sanchez. The "damaged goods" theory is rubbish, he's got a clause, if they don't want to pay it, we'll keep him.

I'd also consider trading in those incentives for a promising youngster who could potentially contribute right now, or be developed further to raise their value. For example, 35m - 40m cash + Sanchez + Deulofeu or Sergi Roberto - we were linked to the latter once I think, and apparently he's in the last year of his contract and talks of a new deal have stalled. I've never seen Sergi Roberto play though, so not sure if he's worth including in the deal, but the idea is basically about considering swapping out those incentive payments which protect Barca, for players we could use or resell in due course.
