I am rarely convinced that players from Northern SA or Central America have the mentality for the PL.

That's a bit selective isn't it?

Anyway Chile isn't 'Northern' South America. Chile is the southernmost point of South America.
So it's south of south South America.

You know, where Uruguay and *ahem* Suarez are also from?

Well Chile runs most of the length of SA so I guess it's Northern, Central & Southern SA ! Uruguay is between Argentina and Brazil so is most definitely Southern !

A little selective I know but it just seems the Argentinians / Uruguayans in particular are very combative and never say die. I don't seem to see that from further North. The upbringing no doubt.

It's all but Northern. The most Northern part of it would maybe be called Central if there is such a thing.

It's an odd thing to focus on anyway. It doesn't matter where's he from if he's good enough.

Jeez, I'm losing it my old age. I could have sworn it connected with Ecuador (my favourite SA country for both it's number of spectacular birds and the Galapagos Islands). Bloody Peru getting in the way. OK well a big chunk is still way North of Uruguay and Argentina and we all know that's where the Chilean football players come from !

Looks like Buenos Aires, Santiago and Montevideo are about the same latitude...

It stretches over 2,600 miles. I imagine people from Chile are all sorts of people. Just as Yorkshiremen are different from Cockneys and Scousers are different from the Cornish. Can you be more specific please? What are players from Santiago like?

No decent players come from Santiago - they all come from the border area close to La Paz !

[article=tribal rubbish]Barcelona directors would back president Josep Maria Bartomeu in any summer move for Liverpool striker Luis Suarez.

Sport says several board members recently sounded out Bartomeu about the prospect of bringing Suarez to the Nou Camp following last season's disappointing campaign.

Bartomeu didn't rule it out, but the likely high price of such a deal - with intermediaries believing the Reds would not sell for less than €80 million - would put the Uruguayan out of reach.

However, the president does have a card up his sleeve in the form of Alexis Sanchez.

The Chile international is highly regarded by Reds boss Brendan Rodgers, who would love to end the doubts about his ability to work the top end of the transfer market by signing the attacker.

Any move would be worth €30 million - at least - though allowing Luis Suarez to move in the opposite direction, plus a cash component, could convince the Reds board.[/article]

I hear the better players come from the SE of the city – Macul, San Miguel, La Cisterna, San Ramon, La Granja etc. and the shit ones come from Quinta Normal, Conchali and Renca in the north of the city. The ones that grow up on Costanera norte are all left footed I believe.

Across the border in Argentina they're all two footed.
