Still a mystery.

The evidence kind of points to whoever was making decisions on transfers that window being fucking awful.

Whether it was Ward or someone else, we’ll probably never - I mean you’d say Ward because he’s the obvious choice.

He basically had one window in full “control” between taking over from Edwards and resigning and delivered Donkey-Brain, Arthur and a corpse with the word Ramsay scribbled on the toe-tag. Can’t even blame him for Carvalho as Edwards had that one in place.

The most surprising thing about his resignation was arguably he wasn’t sacked several months earlier.

Arthur - 4 million on loan fees and 5.7 million in wages (rough estimate from google). That is the sort of decision making that should cost a person his job.

It’s not even Arthur or the fact it was a 10mil package deal give or take or that he was injured the whole season . It was the circumstances we left ourselves in due to poor planning…..go back a few years when we rushed to sign Davies and Kabak on deadline day, it’s reminiscent. All rushed/forced, little to no planning. Never would’ve been in that situation otherwise.

Agree with the points but the blame for overall lack of strategy, I would place on the owners also. Davies and Kabak signing blame cannot be placed on Ward. But the Arthur signing, I know circumstances were not ideal. But still a DOF should be able to do better than Arthur on the final day with an overall package of 10 million.

Kabak was alright. He did play and we desperately needed a defender then. Davies made us a profit, at least in transfer fees.

Arthur on the other hand is a complete bust.

True. But I bet our views of Kabak and Davies would be less charitable if Allison hadn't scored that goal and we missed out on CL that season.

He did do alright especially considering he was playing alongside another inexperienced kid, I remember the Leipzig tie and the Arsenal home game. He bossed it. I actually wanted us to sign him permanently. 9m for a 4th choice CB, 20/21 year old. Suprised we didn’t tbh, but it’s more the situation we found ourselves in…a club like Liverpool shouldn’t be scrambling around last min for loan deals.

Not sure about spending 50m on Thuram, isn’t he and Kone very similar?

If we can get Adams for 20m for me that’s better value. Adams/Gravenburch /Kudus/Barella/

my Brighton supporting fans tell me a deal will be signed next week for his next club. So we still don't know if he is coming to us or going to Man City.
I think Alexis saw the send off Bobby got and was like yeah I want that in 8 years too.

60m or so really isn't too bad. I think he's a good player but 80m+ had me a bit worried. Should hopefully be a decent purchase with room in the budget to add a few more.

You can still put money on Macallister to Liverpool, odds are less than spectacular though
