Your work to continually put this stuff out is first rate KB!

Makes for very interesting read, keep it up as always.

I'm made up with this signing, TBH. Statistically, he's not far off Bellingham whilst playing in a more competitive league. He's proven himself on the biggest game in world football and still carries a humble, relaxed attitude about him.

I would hope we've been able to foster a good relationship with Brighton, because it could well prove fruitful in the future. I would bet my last pound that Lallana has given Klopp and Liverpool a glowing endorsement.

Anyone else feeling a bit "meh" about this signing?

Not particularly, probably as exciting a signing we could make, a regular in a World Cup winning side. Looking forward to seeing what more he can do under Klopp.

What reservations do you have about him that making you feel this way?

Can't really put my finger on it, just seems meh. Steady Eddie type signing. Especially after I had my hopes up about Bellingham.
McAllister just had the best season of his career, I kinda think it's a bit of a gamble, I mean it's not a terrible signing, it's good.
How much?

He is by miles better than any of our current midfielders. WC winner. Proven in the premier league. Can play 6,8,10. Half the price of Jude. Another Scotsman.

What's to not like?

Lol Ok. I mean Diomede won the world cup too. I think we signed Riedle after the Euro's. Diouf after the world cup. Michael Thomas after he took a league title from us.
It's not always a recipe for success.

I think this is the problem, any player you're linked to/ending up signing will feel like a disappointment when you factor in you've been linked to Jude for years. I for 1 never disillusioned myself at the reality we could sign him.

Call me cynical but I suspect what attracted our owners most to McAllister was the relatively low fee.

oh for sure. I’ve been saying it for a while, we’re only interested when there’s a clause that’s acceptable or no competition

Very happy with this signing though, not aboard the meh train at all. Given what we’ve seen recently I’d be delighted with a steady 7/10 player who does some of the hard running and helps the system overall.

Honestly i was worried someone would swoop in for him leaving us scrambling yet again

Thats sound if it gets us 2 more midfielders. For 70 mill I suspect you’re right and we would have moved on, i e Caicedo.

My only hope and prayer is that klopp doesn't coach the shooting outside the box out of him

Wow Binny - amazing work mate.

The only issue I have with comparing say Bellingham with MacAllister or Thuram (or Thuram with Kone) is that playing in totally different leagues means that statistical comparisons can be dodgy at best.
Ditto expecting MacAli to replicat those stats at Liverpool when we generally dominate possession compared to most teams (in./c Brighton).

Doubt it. When Klopp had Coutinho he encouraged him to shoot from outside the box (he even said during an interview that if had a shot like Coutinho he'd shoot all the time, or something similar), and that probably coincided with Coutinho's best ever form.

Good signing IMO and, if it's true that MacAllister's keen to come here as some sources have been saying, I like it even better. We need more in addition but this is a very good start.
