Can release clauses have add ons?

I believe release clauses are usually paid in full rather than over 3 years, which is the norm. But this could easily be a gentlemen's agreement between the player and the owner who agreed to his last contract. I don't think it's been fully revealed yet, hence the wild discrepancy of figures flying about.

Is that even possible? Unless of course he physically amputates both his legs.

A lot of players seem to lose their ability to shoot outside the box when they join us. Or rather, there seems to be very very very very few outside of the box efforts, let alone goals. Only coutinho seemed to consistently shoot from anywhere under klopp

Like who? Fab Gini Hendo were never really those type of players.....possibly Milner but his role changed as a whole.

Can always did, Thiago attempts it, as did Ox and Naby when they were actually on the pitch.

Actually nvm me Farky, I mistook the envy of Arsenal/Chelsea/Spurs/Utd fans as Brighton fans.....looking at the comments under Fabrizio's tweet where he mentions the clause being less than 45/50m.

Actually had a pop over the Brighton board to have a look at their thoughts, most seem pretty ok/reasonable about it.....they wish him well and respect the way he's going out.

What a bunch of weirdos.
In a way but it's Brighton, Inferiority complex an' all that. They may well see a bright future for themselves but they'll always be looking out the reception window on ground floor, meanwhile we're looking out the window from the top floor of a 30 story building.

A lot of talk here about release fees. Just to point out that usually (not always) a release fee is payable all in one go, so while this may be a good value deal, it will potentially put a bit of stress on our borrowings / cash flow if it all needs paying in one lump sum.

The chatter is that a lot of Brighton fans are pissed off about this, and it makes for a funny read.
TBH it makes sense. And they have no right ot be pissed off. He could have left on a free this Summer but to give him his due he signed a new contract, with what seems to be a very reasonable break-clause fee, basically as a thank you to the club (though no doubt with an increased salary). So Brighton are picking up £45m as opposed to ... nothing - I wonder how the Brighton fans would have felt about that !

If ... 😉

Doesn't sound like us TBH.

Yeah, everyone is a winner*

*especially us as that's below the market rate for a very desirable player.

But seriously, it's actually a great bit of business for Brighton*

*as compared to being stabbed in the eye with a stick for free.
