i'm not too clued up on this betting malarkey but some of my mates in germany got 60-1 on bayern winning on penos the other night . 60-1 !!! are they not crazy odds ? anyway a couple of them are a few grand up now . The lad who told them the odds only got 120 as he only put €2 on , the fool !

*EDIT - actually I should add it was 60-1 on real also to win on pens which didn't make much sense but then again would you bet against germans in a peno shootout? . Is 60-1 normal , what would you normally expect to get for a bet like that ?

I suppose it depends on when the bet was struck. If it was before the first leg then I suppose 60/1 for Bayern to prevail on penalties over the 2 legs is feasible. If it was after the 1st leg..............I would expect Real Madrid to have been no more than 8/1 to win 2-1 and ensure extra-time. Then I would guess it was about Evens (maybe slightly more i.e. 5/4) that there would be no goals in extra time so that would give us 16/1-18/1 and then probably 5/4 Munich to win on penalties.

So I reckon that the BEST price after the first leg on Bayern winning on penalties would be 40/1.

interesting , cheers for the explanation . i believe they put the bet on an hour before the game , bookies is across road . Germans love betting and gambling but they don't really have the same culture of a 'bookies' so you always seem to get weird bets and odds from time to time .

£20 Newcastle to win at Chelsea to win £136
£20 Dundee Utd to win at Rangers to win £78

I ended up putting more on it, made £350!

Taking money out my account so i don't bet on our game this saturday, I'll be too biased (and drunk)

Unlucky mate, didn't reckon that King goal was offside.

£10 on LFC winning on penalties to win £120

£15 Yeovil to win at Huddersfield to win £75
£10 Walsall to win at MK to win £56

Yes,it was a decent start to the day. I wanted to follow it up with a bet on Mohsni 1st goal in Crewe v Southend but Betfair haven't got a price for him!

This game could be a cracker.

How did you do over the season Pesam? Profit/loss?
Yeah sorry I should have finished this off..............overall profit of £1,200 which is hugely disappointing as I was up over £3,000 at one stage and was anticipating £6k+.

I'm not sure what went wrong, I couldn't "get my teeth" into the 2nd half of the season.......there were periods of weeks in which no decent betting opportunties appealed to me.

In previous seasons I have encountered periods of 10-14 days where there was a dearth of, what I considered, good games to bet on wheras this season there was a spell of about 5 weeks where I struggled to spot anything!

I suppose by the law of averages this was bound to happen and if it happens again next season I'll be more circumspect/cautious with my betting because I suspect the £2k loss over the last few months came about due to boredom of waiting for a decent betting opportunity to materialise.

I'll do this again next season and hopefully will be more consistent.

Did you have any luck this season Whitey?

£1,200 is a decent holiday...treat yourself.
I've not done alot of betting this past season to be honest so ive no idea where i am. I keep transferring any profits straight to my account so im never tempted to do any stupid bets.

I'm not complaining Whitey, profit is profit but it was my worst performance in many years and my springtime performance was abject.

I'm hoping to win a few quid on the Euro's but I'll start cautiously. I did put £800 on Poland to win the competition @ 50/1 at the beginning of the week because I, correctly, guessed that their price would come down before kick off today. I just cashed-out of the liability in the bet (at prices of 45/1 and 44/1) so have a "free" £3,800 runner on the Poles.
