and closing in on the 26 years that it took manu to win their first league title since the last one.
what's really despressing is right here right now are we any closer to winning the league than when rafa first took over? another thing that is despressing is there are now a lot of liverpool fans who weren't even BORN when we last won the league title.

I echo your sentiments, John.

I do think though that the bit in bold is the reason why so many of us are content to play for scraps like CL qualification and feel that that alone should entitle Rafa to an CBE.
You know what Avvy, I've never been happy with the CL qualification scraps. But being more realistic than some LFC fans, I've accepted that this is our level currently. Last year we overperformed and this obviously got our hopes up for this year. There's been plenty of that over the last 20 years, so we can't blame Rafa entirely for that!

However, to start a thread reminding us of the fact its been 20 years, is the sort of thing a Manc rat or a Blueshite would do (not that they have anything to crow about!).

Its bleeding obvious, of course we're not happy its been 20 years, of course we're not happy with the position we're in, but our title winning escapades of the 70's and 80's do not and never gave us the divine right to expect we would always be in with a shout - although plenty of LFC fans at the time acted that way. I distinctly remember in the 84 season being blase about the treble. Maybe it was my age or maybe, I had become so used to us winning trophy after trophy.

However, I don't need to be reminded by doom mongers on here, how long its been, how shite we may be now, how this season "is better than last" etc etc.

Its all become very boring. So, a bit like the team should be, I'm concentrating on one game at a time. I don't even know who we're playing next week.....ok I do, but I'm not focussed on it!
I've been so critical of Rafa in the past that I've realised that my post actully sounded like a dig; but it really wasn't aimed at Rafa...

OUr decline started long before him.

I just think that the longer we shrug our shoulders and accept our situation, the harder it'll be to get out of it.

I started the thread to start a conversation and nothing more. I have realistic expectations and I actually want the manager to continue next season so I didn't post to rub anyones nose in it or wind anyone up. if you find the thread so distasteful fuck off to another thread. you have posters like redstar who take time and care to respond rather than one line profanities (bravo! well done!) if you don't like it fuck off to a more interesting topic no one is forcing you to read any post on this site.
Your opening post wasn't a conversation starter though. It wasn't thought-provoking. It didn't offer any insight, or tell us anything we didn't already know. It didn't even pose an interesting question - it was just a depressing, unnecessary and banal statement of the bleeding obvious.

Redstar did you a favour by composing a credible response but I wouldn't get carried away with it. It was akin to sprinkling glitter on a turd.

I know you weren't digging at Rafa. I reckon we've "turned about 8 corners" since our last league win (4 of them under Houllier 😉) so that means we've been round the bloke twice at least!

okay I should have put more thought into how I felt about the 20 years but I thought that would come out naturally during a debate.
