2-2 vs Man City, After Game Thoughts

I gave up when I read this:

"]I thought when I first saw it in the game - it hit his belly and just landed at the feet of the scorer but looking at it again - I still don't think its his fault, it just hit his thigh and bounced to far away to quickly for him to do anything. NOT KELLY's Fault.

Tomorrow - goto the park with a mate (if you have any) and do this:

1) Stand opposite your friend and give him a football
2) Tell him to wack the ball at your thigh at moderate power
3) As the ball bounces of your thigh - try and kick it away to the right of you, while your friend runs at you.

If you manage to kick it way before you friend kicks it then I will accept its Kelly's fault - otherwise its not.

Regards,

MORON

Yes, and I'm sure Jack is of the same ability as Kelly (Premiership ability) so that's the perfect test. Well done.

(not having a go Jack!)

Borini is no wing forward at all. He looked completely out of place on the right.

His one touch stuff is good though, so you can see why Rodgers rates him, those two touches inside from the right wing were simple but perfect. He reminds of Dirka a bit, great movement, an unpredictable first touch but fantastic work rate.

I tried that with my grandson this evening. First time he put it out for a corner, second time he put it out for a throw, He's eight years old.

it won't take PL ability to carry out the experiment - its not even a step-over, its trying to touch/kick the ball as it bounces of your right thigh before the person your facing can kick it away from you. Really simple - no great skill needed.

I thought Borini had the right ideas, and movement, but his execution was poor. Although it was the first full game I've watched of his so I'll give it a few more before passing judgement.

OK - if your telling the truth, then its Kelly's fault.

There is definitely an argument for Gerrard not playing a full 90, or being rested more.

A simple look at the passes he made in both halves show the difference in his play, using the four four two app.

You can also see how well he played in the first half, I noticed he had made a lot of passes to Coates during the match when looking at the stats. Look how many of those passes in the first half went where Coates would be, therefore disrupting city's play & tempo. In the second half theres hardly any of those passes.

I like Borini. I like his positioning and his work rate, but as I said in the Hearts thread Im a bit worried about his finishing. So far. hopefully that will change

Much better game from Shelvey today after a torrid time in his last outing. It was nice to have so many good passers occupying our midfield. There was a real sense that they could create something today. Foiled by individual errors but massively encouraging in terms of the direction of the team.

Summed up well Del.

Moron - you are really basing your analysis of Kelly on if someones 8 year old grandson can pass your "test"?

"IF" he is telling the truth and believes that he hit his grandson wth a football used by PL players on this 8 year olds thigh and it bounced of the thigh and the 8 year old got it away before Jack the grandfather could take it away from his grandson - then yes I guess I am wrong. But its highly unlikely, as I nearly know I am always right about these things. Kelly was taken off because he was not right in the head after that incident. BR rates the kid highly.

He was taken off cos he wanted to get Enrique back into the side & trouble city by playing Johnson on his favoured right side.

Good old that 1 journalist from sky sports

As I say froggy, I don't mind people disagreeing with me over it. I just saw little impressive from Gerrard today

you sound like KHL today fabs, tbh

seeing something completely different from everyone else, and refusing to change your point of view in light of new evidence

it's actually pretty entertaining, carry on

I know I can't belive it Red Mullet !!! I never thought of that. But come on !!! does anyone believe that BR would fuck up a young kids confidence like that by taking him of straight after he was involved in an unlucky incident like that ? - I don't think he would.

Did you see the sneek peak where he ripped in to Sterling? In front of all his peers? The one where you (paraphrasing) said this is how it should be?

I really don't think Kelly's confidence is 'fucked up' by Brendan.

Moron, just say that you agree with me & stop talking about that now.

Why not look at my boss Gerrard post I did a page or so back. Or someone at least look . Took me at least 5 minutes to do those chalkboards.

Anyway, Downing was dropped as talks continue over his big Barca move. I reckon Ayre is hoping Real come in for him too so there'll be a bidding war.

I just did out of respect - first of all I just want to say - your reason for Kelly being taken off is possible Fox.

Regarding SG - I think I said this a few days ago - can't remember which thread it was, when Ryan was asking - how do we fit Nuri into this team if we have Allen, SG, Lucas in the team. One of the reasons I said was that SG may only play 70mins in some games OR he will be put up front on the right of the three in a 4-3-3. Given his age there is NO way he can do what he use to do for us. The only types of midfielders who can be successful at that age are:

1) Defensive midfielders
2) Deep lying controllers - your Allen, Xabi, Pirlo types

Box to box players to be successfull are typically <= 30 years of age. If he carries on like that - its safe to assume he will injure himself at some stage.

Downing will come again - Brendan is coaching him at the moment or preparing him for Fullham transfer to get Clint Dempsey.
