2-2 vs Man City, After Game Thoughts

Yeah, Toure's arse is an embarrasment. I don't think the white shorts helped but even in slimming darker colours he's one fat fuck.

I thought we were boss. Gerrard did not have a good game, at all. He was hitting it like Carra at points - head down and hoof. Everyone else was finding nice passes, but Gerrard put us under undue pressure a few times. That first goal started with him hitting a pointless ball to nothing I seem to recall.

Allen is a don, Skrtel can only learn from such a massive fuck up, Johnson did great, Enrique had a better game, Sterling is fucking awesome, Suarez is one of the best footballers on the planet, Borini can't take a man on so he should swap places with Suarez, Coates did well, Shelvey was good. It's not unfair to talk the team up after that performance, we just battered the champions, they had no answer but punished our two idiot bits of play because they're so clinical given the chance.

Massive shame we didn't get the three points. It had the rapey quality of sticking all your quids in a fruit machine only for some other cunt to empty it on his first go while you were having a piss. On the bright side, City might win the league by a point from Manure.

I don't think we were as good as that Woland. We did not create enough from the open play to score a goal, and that indicates that we still have issues in the final third. I would not go as far as battering the champions.

That's coz we haven't got a striker. A massive shortcoming in our plan for world dominance, and yet we would have beaten the champions comfortably if not for stupid naive wanky shit at the back.

I thought we were as good as that, we had two or three gilt edged chances that we should have scored in open play from.
We usually do well against the big teams but only because we grind results out through blood sweat and tears, we outplayed them on Sunday, and controlled the game.
Woland is also correct about swapping Fabio and Luis
Regards

I.....only because we grind results out through blood sweat and tears, ......

Vlad that is hugely significant in the scheme of a whole season, and also why the more expensive teams are capable of winning games without blood and sweat. Its significant because over the course of a season that sort of level, will take its toll on all our players and as a result means dropping points to the lower sides in the league. This is what I fear most under the Rogers system, a huge effort will need to be put into winning games, and having that superior possession and one of reasons why Barca make it look easy implementing that system is because through Xavi, Iniest, and Messi they have intelligent players who know nearly 99% of the times to make the correct pass and when and how long to hold on. My biggest worry is that not all our players have that level of game intelligence to play the Rogers style without exerting their near best in every game, and as we all know thats not going to be possible over the course of a season for these guys.

The Borini chance that drifted past the post from a perfectly weighted Sterling cross on the left, another one were Suarez should really have scored after being slipped through by Borini, Kompany's swipe at the ball that sailed just over the bar, Gerrard's lay back to Shelvey who shot agonisingly over, the header from Carroll that would have nestled in the back of the net had the defender not been on the line, Sterling's passes into the middle from the right-hand side and had there been a van Nistelrooy-type striker prowling the 6-yard box it would have been food and drink for him. These are the one's that should have been scored. There are other chances like Sterling's effort that Toure touched on for a corner, Allen's audacious hit towards the last few seconds, Johnson coming onto his left foot like he seems to relish but this time blasting wide.

yes I did see all those so called 'chances' - of which the only one I would have said was a good one was the the Borini miss from Sterling's cross. The rest were half chances or as I liike to say ones where the opposition defenders were doing their correct job - i.e. defending. There were very few chances where we managed to create chances that left one of our forwards in a one-on-one situation - we were always facing a crowded Manchester City goal area, and until thats sorted we ain't gonna score much with the strikers we have.

I am so glad I don't ever have to watch the match with you.

I get the feeling we'd win 3-0 against utd & I'd still end up hanging myself having spent two hours in your company.

You would hang yourself if we won by scoring from just headers, and free kicks. We are already known as a cup team now, so I don't want commentators to add to that by saying "Liverpool may have a chance from their set pieces, because they cannot create anything". The ability to score from open play and win games will be the ultimate way of deciding if BR's system is working. Value for Money too (VfM), no supporter wants to sit there all day hoping we get a corner to enable us to score, I would like to think we can create those silky chances that top teams do and score.

You're an idiot.

Actually, I shouldn't have said that.

I'll consider myself warned.

That's a stupid point. We cannot be expected to be creating shitload of chances just weeks into a new season with a new manager, some new players & a new style of play.

You're basing this immediate judgement following a game against the league champions.

I can't really be bothered justifying this any further, cos it's needless.

I did not say anything of a kind. It all started when Woland was saying we "battered the champions" - we did nothing of a sort, controlling a game means effectively we can draw games, but to win games - your chances are best served by creating those clear-cut goal scoring oppertunities. We all know what a clear cut goal scoring situation is in football, and thats what we need to work on. The only player in our team who has the ability of a top rate striker is actually SG, all the others including Suarez are hit and miss types at best, thats why if we don't end up buying a top quality striker the only way we are going to score with what we have got - is by creaing those clear chances. That is all I am saying, and as I have stated previously - I was more than happy with the result and the way we played as I actually thought we were going to lose. However, I still worry if we have it in us to back from behind, I said that before the WBA game, and then it turned out to be a disaster.

Like Man City, premiership champions did against us ? It's not as simple as you're saying but you're partly right because we do need a goalscorer

I did too. I'm loathed to overhype performances but that was against the Champions and I don't think the score was a fair reflection at all, we played some good stuff, out playing them at times and looked quite dangerous when attacking.

That was after two games, imagine once things get settled? And I agree re Suarez and Borini.

I'll say it. Moron - you're an idiot.

"Only won by just scoring from headers and free kicks". Jeez.

And your an idiot for being so happy that that is the only way we could actually score.

You mean you don't worry that we cannot score from open play and have to rely on set pieces to have a chance ? - thats the sort of thing thats associated with Stoke not LFC. There is nothing wrong with the way we scored, but I would prefer if we could have created more chances from open play than the single clear chance created by Sterling for Borini. Its an indicator that we have the ability to score goals by playing football with the ball as a team and give us confidence in the future that when we are behind we can be threat.

IT FUCKING "YOU'RE" NOT "YOUR".

And if you seriously worried thinking that Brendan Rodgers will only educate the team to score via headers and free kicks then you are one almighty pillock.

YOUR getting a littel upset tonight !!! calm down. Some of you don't read my posts properly, all I said was that we need to improve in that final third to create those clear chances, I said nothing about BR training the team just to score from set pieces - thats just a terrible assumption that shows your lack of reading a post and understanding it fully. .

Oh, and look back at the 5 competitive games we've played this season AND, this is the hard part, count the number if goals that were score via a header or free kick.

Then, once again - think, is it the only way Liverpool scores goals?

Gomel did not have a packed defence of a high quality - for that matter PL quality which we will face on a weekly basis.

Jesus Christ, you're a thick, rubbish twat !

Read your own post and try to fully understand it. You'll find you never said PL.

I think the context should have been easy to understand after all - the game against Man City was a PL game and not some uknowns from Europe in the Europa Cup. You guys need to stop thinking I hate the team, and manager. I don't - I WANT the team to succeed, but worry that we don't have those 3 years to get CL footy and badly need to qualify this season otherwise every year we are going to have problems keeping our best players and attracting the best. The quicker BR gets the shit together the better it will be, and then perhaps I can enjoy the drawn games like you guys do.
