Paul Anderson is a footballer who currently plays for Championship side Ipswich Town. He plays primarily as a winger and can operate on either flank. He started his career at Hull City before moving to Liverpool but made no league appearances for either club. Loan spells with Swansea City and Nottingham Forest resulted in a permanent move to the latter for whom he made nearly 100 league appearances. In 2012 he moved to Bristol City before signing for Ipswich Town the following

Antonio Barragán Fernández (born 12 June 1987) is a Spanish professional footballer who plays for Valencia CF as a right back. On 30 August 2011, Valladolid announced that Barragán would be leaving for Valencia CF in a deal worth €1.5 million.[8] During his first season, all three right-backs – himself, Bruno and Miguel – appeared in roughly the same amount of games as the Che finished third and once again qualified to the Champions League.

Barragán scored his first official goal for Valencia on 13 March 2014, netting his team's first in a 3–0 away win against PFC Ludogorets Razgrad for the campaign's UEFA Europa League.[9] He continued battling for first-choice status with another Portuguese, João Pereira. He has played 52 games in three seasons.

Plessis (born 5 March 1988) is a French footballer who currently plays for FC Lausanne-Sport in the Swiss Super League. He is also the younger brother of professional footballer Guillaume Plessis.

On 23 December 2011, Doncaster Rovers signed Plessis on loan until the end of the season.[24] He hoped to use the switch as a springboard to winning a move back to the Premier League.[25] However, he never made a first team appearance for the club and was subsequently released in May 2012.[26] On 4 July 2012, Panathinaikos also terminated his contract after two years of sub-par performances for the club.[27]

Arles-Avignon
In July 2012, Plessis joined French Ligue 2 side AC Arles-Avignon on a two-year contract. There he managed to resurrect his foundering career and he became a first team regular.

David Oluwaseun Segun Amoo (born 13 April 1991) is an English professional footballer who plays for Carlisle United in League One.

Ryan Guno Babel (Dutch pronunciation: [ˈrɑjɐn ˈbaːbəl]; born 19 December 1986)[3] is a Dutch football player who currently plays for Kasımpaşa in the Turkish Süper Lig. He can play as a striker or left winger.

Babel began his career at Ajax in 1998, working his way up through the youth team and into the senior squad. He played three seasons for the first team before he was transferred to Liverpool in mid-2007, where under three successive managers he failed to secure a regular first team position. Babel was sold to TSG 1899 Hoffenheim in January 2011, for a sum around half of that which Liverpool paid for him. His time at Hoffenheim was marred with disciplinary problems with three managers at the club. In the summer of 2012, Babel bought out the remaining final year of his contract, making him a free agent, and re-signed a one-year contract with Ajax. After this season, Babel went on to sign with Kasımpaşa on 21 June 2013.

Babel has been part of the Dutch national football team since 2005, and has represented his country at all youth team levels. He played in two World Cups, 2006 and 2010, reaching the final of the latter.

He began his professional career at the local Swiss club FC Basel, playing four seasons in the first team before moving to Borussia Dortmund. He spent three years at the German club, his last season being marred by injury. Degen signed for Liverpool on a free transfer on 3 July 2008, his stay at Liverpool was also blemished by many injuries. His Liverpool contract was terminated by mutual consent on 31 August 2011 and he returned to Basel.

On 7 June 2013 Red Bull Salzburg announced they had signed Gulácsi on a free transfer from Liverpool on a 4-year deal. [18] He played his first match in Salzburg's colours in the ÖFB-Cup, against Union St. Florian from the third division, at an eventual 9-0 away win.

On 20 July 2013, he made his debut in the Austrian Bundesliga against Wiener Neustadt at an eventual 5-1 away win.

Chris Mavinga (born 26 May 1991) is a French footballer who currently plays for Russian club Rubin Kazan.[1] He operates primarily as a left back, but can also play in the center of defense. Mavinga is a French youth international and has represented his country at under-18, under-19, and under-21 level.

He was a part of the team that won the 2010 UEFA European Under-19 Football Championship on home soil. Mavinga joined his current club in 2013 after spending two years at French club Stade Rennes. Prior to joining Rennes, he spent three years at the Camp des Loges, the training center of French club Paris Saint-Germain and also two years with Liverpool.

So in summation, unless you play like Raheem, it's tough to make it to the first team. Tell your kids to have a plan b career!

Toni Silva - CSKA Sofia
Gerardo Bruna - SD Huesca (Spain; Segunda B)

How many remember Jon Newby? A member of the 95/96 FA Youth Cup winning team, he was a journeyman player for his entire playing career after being released by the club. He managed the Welsh club Colwyn Bay for a couple of years.

Alan Navarro is now with Swindon Town.

Robbie Threlfall last played for Morecambe but is without a club now. 🙁 In comparison, his contemporaries have had a bit more succes:
- Stephen Darby plays for Bradford
- Lee Peltier has had a decent career in the lower leagues and now plays for Huddersfield

David Raven is playing for Inverness Caley Thistle, apparently.

Gary Mackay-Steven has done well at Dundee Utd and even picked up a Scotland Cap.

Whatever happened to that Astrit Adjerevic?

Also in regards to the signing of Nemeth & Simon, I recall LFC having an academy in Hungary now? Is that right? That or we have exclusive picks from a certain academy in Hungary.

Ajdarevic plays for Standard Liege and was on loan to Charlton last season.

As for the Hungary thing - we have a tie-up with MTK Budapest, from whom we got Adorjan (with our U21s and was on loan to Groningen last season - they didn't pick up the option to buy him after the loan; likely to leave on a free I think), Nemeth (did okay at Roda JC in the Netherlands but just terminated his contract), Simon (back in some Hungarian club I think), Gulacsi (Salzburg) and Kristof Polgar (with our U18s I think). The tie-up hasn't been much of a success so far, as you can see that it hasn't produced any first team players for us in 5 years.

Spearing has just been made captain at Bolton:

Former Kop academy player targets promotion to the top flight and a trip to his old Anfield stomping ground after being handed the Trotters' armband

Bolton’s new skipper Jay Spearing wants to fulfil a lifetime ambition and lead a team on to his beloved Anfield.
Midfield general Spearing has been given the armband by Dougie Freedman and plans to wear it all the way through to promotion and a return to the big time.

And Spearing’s steely glare is on taking Wanderers back to Liverpool - the club where he learned his trade and will always be close to his heart.

Spearing said: “My dream is take our club and fans to Anfield. I am a Liverpool supporter but Bolton’s captain. I will always look forward to that fixture and the whole squad are looking to get back to where we feel we belong.”

Remember Steve McNulty? He was at the academy. I saw him for the first time in ages at the end of last season helping Luton get back in the league. He's, er, quite large these days:

The name rings a bell, but wow, that's huge.

I was sort of absent mindedly watching him play last season, just intrigued that someone that large was playing at that level, when I heard the name mentioned. Quite a shock. He was captain of our under 19s and quite well-rated for a time, then he went to Blackpool and then into McDonalds obscurity.
