Might be an old thread but think its a suitable one to post this in. Credit to Hansern for spotting him (even though he isn't Danish 😛) 2 yrs ago.

[article=http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/article-2415613/Ukraine-v-England-Key-men-Three-Lions-fear.html#ixzz2eOy7Iw5O ]England's players shouldn’t need to be warned about Yevhen Konoplyanka, the Ukraine star who scored a stunning goal when the teams drew 1-1 at Wembley a year ago.
Konoplyanka is a right-footed winger who plays on the left, meaning he likes to cut inside and shoot with his stronger foot — as goalkeeper Joe Hart found out to his cost that night.

England, and Kyle Walker in particular, will have to try to force the 23-year-old onto the outside or have a midfielder detailed to anticipate the sudden switch infield. Steven Gerrard failed that very task at a crucial moment last September.

Konoplyanka also takes the majority of Ukraine’s set-pieces although it is unthinkable that Hart will have as many problems with his corners as San Marino keeper Federico Valentini did in Lviv on Friday night.

The FC Dnipro star, who was linked with a move to Liverpool this summer, was in his element as he cut through the Group H no-hopers at will and also scored Ukraine’s sixth goal. Our map showing his touches of the ball demonstrates just how much of the game he spent attacking San Marino’s goal.

You’d expect England to force him back into his own half more often.

Konoplyanka described the biggest win in Ukraine’s history as the easiest match of his career, but he is not convinced that it was the best way to prepare for such a pivotal clash with England.

‘I would have preferred a harder game to bring us up to speed,’ he said.

‘From San Marino to England in four days is a big jump in class — it can be difficult to adjust.

‘One minute you are beating a defender with ease, the next you are up against a really strong defender and discover that the tricks that worked before are of no use.’

[article=http://www.mirror.co.uk/sport/football/news/england-v-ukraine-everything-you-2261716#ixzz2eOzKGknj]For Ukraine much of the creative impetus falls on the dynamism of their two wingers, one a delicate and weaving player, the other bludgeoning and powerful.

Evgen Konoplyanka and Andriy Yarmolenko, the former cutting in from the left, and the latter cutting in from the right each offer a dangerous and direct counter-attacking threat, even with the added frustration that their play sometimes brings.

Konoplyanka, a key player for Juande Ramos’ Dnipro, possesses all the ability needed to be an effective inverted winger, cutting in from the left onto his right foot.

With delicate balance, tight ball control and explosive pace, the 23-year-old may see this fixture as an opportunity to display his talent to an English audience, after recently signing with English agent James Lippett.

Yarmolenko, like his partner Konoplyanka, is most comfortable and effective when able to dart inside from the touchline, yet differences in their play abound, the most obvious being Yarmolenko’s reliance on his left foot.

The Dynamo Kyiv winger, linked with Liverpool in some quarters this summer, has the technical attributes to control matches from his berth wide on the right. The problem, though, is the uncanny ability to frustrate, with an over-reliance on step-overs and a tendency to drift out of the game, Yarmolenko’s final ball can often be found wanting.[/article]

[article=http://www.mirror.co.uk/sport/football/transfer-news/yehven-konoplyanka-transfer-target-premier-2262311#ixzz2eS9stVfr ]Ukraine winger Yehven Konoplyanka is the danger man for England tonight in Kiev, but the tricky 23-year-old could easily have become a Premier League player as recently as last week.

A dazzling wideman, Konoplyanka is one of the Ukrainians' brightest young players and impressed at last summer's European Championships with his pace and dribbling.

The Dnipro Dnipropretovsk star has been linked with Manchester United, Chelsea and Arsenal in the past , and was subject to a late-window offer from an "ambitious" English club, with that interest is expected to intensify over the next twelve months.

"There was a bid of around £10million from a Premier League club this summer, who we expect to go back in for him in January.

"Dnipro rate the player very highly and have no need to sell, but would expect €20million (£16.8m) for him," his agent James Lippett told Mirror Sport.

"We know that there are top six clubs in England and also in the Bundesliga that are looking at him for next summer, but we will have to see what happens.

"Of course the player would be very interested in testing himself at that sort of level."[/article]
