Looks like we have missed out and he is off to Juve on loan..

Didn't this geezer come out and say he wanted to join us in the summer ? So have we cocked up our negotiations yet again ??

I thought he could of been a great signing.. Could play the usual 'sterling' role on the wing whilst we continue with Sterling up top..

Definatley could offer us more going forward.. His pace is sublime..

Like I said in the other thread, I'd have considered playing him in the new Sterling role to enable Sterling to drop back in behind.

He's an absolute no-brainer on loan.

Delph it is then 🙁

Ooh god.. now I am depressed even further.. Shaqiri is the better player.. he could help bring the zip that has been lacking back to our forward line..

I wonder what the stumbling block was in the negotiations.. ?

You never know mate it could be that were out of the champions league & the fact we've been shocking.

Sounds about right..

Though with the right players.. we could plan an assualt on Europa League, and qualify for next season Champions League...

A forward 3 of Shaqiri, Studge and Sterling would be rather tasty... Plenty of pace about it... With the right supply line, it would rip most defences apart

Back to the SSS forward line.

Because he doesn't press. After Rodger's recent comments absolving himself of responsibility for Balotelli, he'd need a very big set of balls to turn around and ask the owners for Shaqiri.

@RagBarry are you here? Liverpool thinking about Shaqiri but no close yet

Do we really need him?
Seems somewhat of a luxury signing at this stage.

Given the lack of options up front.. and having to push Sterling out upfront to compensate for our lack of options..

I'd say yes... he would help to give us our zip back, if nothing else.

Neither is Sterling.. Though as he is being considered an option, Shaqiri could potentially fill the role that has been left Vacant by Sterling being pushed up top
Buying a striker should be our first priority in January.
I like Shaquiri but the position that he plays are the least of our problems.

I do agree, but given the lack of quality available and the over inflated prices..

Shaqiri on Loan is a no-brainer

I disagree. There problems we have up front aren't just about the lack of an out and out striker.

Sterling has been run into the ground because Rodgers has no one else to turn to. Markovic has not looked ready and Lallana has been injured and doesn't quite do the same job. Who else is there?

Bayern blocked the move, despite how much you'd like it to be, it wasn't a case of us fucking up.

That was in the summer.. Bayern want him loaned out this coming transfer window.. Nothing has been blocked as of yet....

Im not saying we fucked up.. but given it has been highly documented we have been chasing him, and Shaqiri basically stipulating he wanted to join us, it would be a little strange he is going elsewhere as currently suggested...

It's quite simple, we wanted him in the summer and he wanted us, however Bayern said no as they still felt they needed him, so we went and got someone else. Since we got that someone else, we aren't going after him now as we got that someone else, so no it's not strange, and no we haven't cocked up.

The "someone else" would arguably be Markovic, not Lallana (as many seem to assume). Lallana was heavily linked from the word go in the Summer, alongside Shaqiri.

Ibe is coming through in that position also.
Coutinho can do a job there too.
I'd have no problem getting him on loan in January but wouldn't be spending another 20 million for that position again.
I'd rather a more versatile player who can be used up top.

Yeah, I kinda agree that we don't need to be spending on what is essentially another attacking midfielder, unless someone feels he's capable of the same sort of change in position as what we've seen with Sanchez. If the latter is on, then yeah, great, but it's a gamble.

Sigh.

Mods, how about as a compromise, you use your fancy filter to auto convert "could of" and "would of" and "might of" and any other fucking modal auxiliary verbs you can think of that jono might struggle with?

It's becoming a bit endearing, no? I'm kind of disappointed if he doesn't shoehorn it into every post.
