any half decent side we have come up against this season.. we have been beaten by... as was the case in pre season
(and no west ham on current form ain't half decent)

Hopefully this will change this weekend...

P.S. our defence is the worst it has been since the evans era!!!

Where is the statistic Jono?

Should this not be titled "Worrying subjective Opinion" ? 😉

regards

the point I am trying to make is we do well against poor opposition, but when we come up against a team that can stick it about a little we seem to struggle... Even against west ham we ended up having to make a game of it.

I still think its apparant we are missing Alonso.. He is the type of player you need against tougher opposition, although arguably last night we probably missed Mascherano more (stuck out like a sore thumb!)

http://www.liverpoolfc.tv/match/season/

tell me a half decent team we have beaten here ?

On that current form, It don't look good for us for the weekend...

What we've struggled against, so far, is teams who put pressure on the ball. That was even true against Hull in the first half, and Burnley until the first goal went in. Luckily, what we've lost in midfield composure and domination, we've gained in forward movement and invention - so we're scoring more goals than ever.

As you say, though, Chelsea will be a major test.

Our defence has looked shoddy against all sorts of sides this season, it's just the better sides have exploited it more effectively.

We need to get Agger back asap and bring Aurelio back to LB.

Drop Skrtel and see how Carragher looks with a new partner, one hopefully which he can trust and concentrate on getting his own form back.

every team that will do well not to get relegated this season has beaten us.

chelsea is a far bigger game than usual.

ooops u know what i meant.

we've only beat relegation fodder this season and its increasingly worrying

It's those teams I had the most worry about beating this year.

I don't see how one European game has suddenly started make people doubt our title credentials.

rage in a 'rage' shocker.

I'm going to give the team the benefit of the doubt against Spurs and Villa - 1st few games, no European pre-season and adjusting to a Xabi-less midfield. Yesterday was atrocious but these games happen in Europe.

I'll say this - Chelsea will show us what this team is made of ... I am looking forward to the game.

Last year it was worrying that we drew against so called relegation fodder at home (Stoke, West Ham, Hull) this year its worrying that we win (convincingly as well) at home against same relegation fodder.

Yeah its hardly an improvement.

Plus last year people (on here)were lauding Utd for their ability to do this, citing correctly, that this was the reason they won the title and we didn't. Now we are doing what they did last year, of course we are denigrating our own team for it. Work that one out.

Did you see the game today Jono?

We bossed the game for the first half hour and did a very good job withstanding Chelsea for the last fifteen minutes of the first half.
We looked solid at the back against two top strikers and we were doing well enough going forward. With an hour gone the game was in the balance and we had matched, if not exceeded, Chelsea's efforts in the game up to that point. One turnover of possession 60/70 yards from goal was punished and in going forward to try and equalise, we conceeded a second goal. There is very little difference between the sides, we have different styles, but we are very evenly matched.

It reminded me of the sort of game we've played against them year after year, in the league, unfortunately the result was also similar. In a few we were unlucky not to win, but there it is again, a loss.

there was nothing spectacular about our play, to be fair... our final ball was always poor, no one there to thread the ball through as it where.. Only when Benayoun came on did that change... It is clear from our play we miss a playmaker in midfield like Alonso... and without someone of his quality in midfield, and our dodgy defending we will continue to struggle against good footballing sides.

We conceded a goal from a mistake by Mascherano.. unlucky tbh.. apart from that I thought he had a good game. However it can be argued Insua showed his lack of experience through not tracking back as required by getting caught out by Anelka for the goal.

Like fark says 'It reminded me of the sort of game we've played against them year after year, in the league, unfortunately the result was also similar.' For me thats a step backwards in terms of our progress.

We won't win the league... With the squad Chelsea have got.. it's theirs to lose.

I know I disagree with the likes of Dreamy, Whaddapie, Oncy, Roger, fucking everyone when i think they're talking shite, but I don't think any of them or anyone else for that matter would ever come out with something as resoundingly cuntish as that.

You're the absolute worst type of supporter. Some plastic, disrespectful, uneducated, fawning fuck who wouldn't know anything about Liverpool FC beyond what he's read on a few message boards. When you've given to the club the services Jamie Carragher has over the years, you earn respect. Fact.

That sort of respect should see you through the shit games you'll inevitably have. Hence why Carra gets leeway on here from the people who have a clue.

I suggest you read up a bit more about who we are as a club, and what we stand for before you post anything else on an LFC forum.

carra isn't having the best of seasons but he (or anyone else) doesn't deserve that kind of abuse, therefore you have to conclude he post the abuse to get a reaction, don't ask me why though.
one thing I 'do' know though is rafa isn't going to drop carra, it isn't going to happen. pretty much like gerrard, or torres, they would have to go through an almighty slump in form for rafa to pull the trigger.
