This is the kind of support in Asia that Moores and Parry ignored and frittered away for far too long, while the Mancs and latterly Chelsea were in amongst it making hay. There's a fair bit that Purslow can be criticised for, but he did at least get the club starting to think about capitalising on this immense reservoir of goodwill towards LFC. Hopefully we can push on with that - and not just for the club's sake either, because those fans deserve better from us.

The support for the Reds in Asia is immense. It is on tours like this which make us realize how big and massive our club truly is. Among the English clubs, only the Mancs can match us in terms of Asian fanbase.

I think last time when Chelsea and us visited Asia there were more people coming to watch us train and hang around the team coaches than Chelsea had in the stadium. In fact I remember one of the media outlets there saying something along the lines of the main act has left town and now we are watching the cover artist.

I always find it funny when Chelsea, Spurs, and Arsenal claim they are bigger than us now. Last year when Liverpool played Spurs At Baltimore, I was in the train to the stadium when a Spurs fan was trying to taunt us at our situation saying that you are no longer a big club. I told him to look around - we were outnumbering them 15:1 minimum.

A flag in honour of much-loved Hillsborough campaigner Anne Williams will be brought halfway across the world to take up residence in the Kop next season.
The banner, on display in Jakarta's Gelora Bung Karno stadium for LFC's 2-0 pre-season friendly win against an Indonesian XI , features the Formby mum's face with the words Iron Lady beneath and was made by supporters from the Big Reds Indonesian Official Supporters Club.
Sammy Irooth from the group, who made a Justice For The 96 mosaic before the match , said, "We have always had a lot of respect for Anne, as well as all the families and survivors, and just wanted to do something to show that we care.
"Everyone has had to wait too long for justice and it needs to happen soon."
The flag will be brought back to England by supporters on tour with the Reds.
Anne's daughter Sara said, "We were all really touched when we heard the banner had been made, every time I seen a photo of it I get emotional.
"It is such a lovely gesture, thanks so much to the people who made it."
Anne's brother Danny, who cared for his sister in her final months along with wife Sandra at their Birkdale home, said "We are a bit overcome with the legacy Anne has left behind.
"She was always an easy person to like and love. We all miss her so much."
Ian Barnes, trustee of Anne's For Justice charity and a founder member of the Hope For Hillsborough group said, "This just shows how respected Anne was around the world.
"The supporters in Indonesia have really shown their support for the 96 while Liverpool have been out there, and from what we hear, long before that as well.
"It would be a fitting tribute to see it at Anfield next season."

So did I, till I realised through the haze of the shit stream I was watching that we weren't actually playing in red.

Ha, same here although given that I was watching it in HD on ESPN perhaps I should get my eyesight tested.

Seriously though, the kit didn't look all that bad.

Oops! Steven Gerrard makes fan cry after bumping into her on Liverpool’s Asia tour

Liverpool might be hoping to make new friends on their tour of Asia, but captain Steven Gerrard left one fan in tears this week after bumping into her in the club’s hotel.
Gerrard and the rest of the Reds’ squad are currently in Asia as part of their pre-season tour, with the club looking to get players fit for the new season and grow their fan base all over the world.

But after meeting young Indonesian fan Sarah Hapsari in the lobby of Liverpool’s hotel in Jakarta, skipper Gerrard left her crying her eyes out.
The supporter was hoping to meet Liverpool legend Gerrard and grab a quick autograph as he made his way to the team bus, but the experience was overwhelming.

As Gerrard approached her, emotional Sarah began screaming and soon burst into tears, before being comforted by fellow fans – all of whom seemed in disbelief at the incident.
The goings on were captured on camera, but by the time the recoding ended, she still hadn’t managed to compose herself.
Oops.
