El 1st Leg - Augsburg Away

2nd half has been somewhat better, overall we probably put together 3 good passing moves that should have resulted in a goal, 2 of them in the 2nd half. We could also have conceded more in the 2nd, so it's even.

Can has improved after the interval and came up with some nice defensive plays, I think he needs to be angry at himself to play at 100%. A step forward for Hendo, played all 90 minutes and looked marginally better than last few times, same for Coutinho – both long way off their best though.

I thought Sakho and especially Kolo had good defensive games – not that they were playing against ronaldos and agueros of this world. Moreno, however, produced one of the most hopeless defensive performances I've ever seen from an LFC left back (and that's saying a lot). Why was Flanno not on the bench? We need to do something because the left side is becoming a major weakness.

Jordan Ibe's lack of awareness and general intelligence on the pitch will see to him not having a long-term career at Liverpool.

I fucking HATE our midfield. No guile, no pace, no drive. Drabbest we've ever had.

Can, Henderson, Milner, Allen, sell the lot of them. Nothing worth persevering with.

I don't quite agree, some of them can be a part of a good midfield, but we need to get the balance right. Today it was pretty drab, like you said. Let's see what happens next year with the addition of Grujic and Xhaka or someone else. Also Hendo can be much, much better than this and Can as well.

I don't think Flanno is in the EL squad Rurik.

I wish ya all would give up with this 'super Ibe' shit. He's fucking shite.

Sadly I'm feeling the same way.

Everyone has been comparing him with Sterling, even when Sterling was at Liverpool, but tbf to the little snake, he's a very clever football when he's on his game.

Knows when to take a man on, or when to release the ball, able to makes great little angles for himself etc. I don't see any of that with Ibe.

I felt the usual sexual impotence watching them tonight. All foreplay and no sex - essentially we keep missing out on that essential cum-shot.

This picture is an inditement of Moreno's performance (and to some extent Clyne's and Milner's). Augsburg crossed the ball 12 times from Moreno's flank and 13 from Clyne's (but one of those was from a corner, so it doesn't count). But at least Clyne produced some sort of a response on the attacking end – Moreno has been just totally outplayed by some guys named Esswine and Verhaegh.

Totally. And if Klopp's reading, don't forget Lucas as well, he's shit.

All of these players have looked half decent at one time or another when playing with good midfielders. But together, they're just a cacophony of dog shite.

Start again time for me, #1 priority, even over our turd defence & keeper.

They are all below par.

It's a bit like one of Liverpool's away legs in Europe in the good old days, except that then we made it into a shit game on purpose, but tonight it has just worked out that way.

Reminded me of yesteryear too, only then a scoreless away draw was considered a satisfactory result. Can't remember the hand wringing and scapegoating then if we didn't win a particular game in style. LFC played and won, lost or drew as a team back then, none of this he's shit, no no he's shitter etc etc

How sophisticated we've become. Analysis before, during and after the fact. Brave new world.

I think we'll win the home leg though.

Both Sturridge and Coutinho was off pace yesterday. Studge more so and looked like was holding back in some sprints. Wheter that was the cold or fear of injury I dont know.

Toure and Sakho both had good games.

Credit to Augsburg though. Decent defensive display and very organized. 14th in the BL but would give a lot of PL teams some trouble.

"Starting again" has got us in this fucking mess in the first place, throwing more money after shite upon shite. There are some good players in there, but the balance is ridiculously wrong, we don't need three of them playing, they all offer something similar. We need a solid player infront of the defense and we need to occasionally sacrifice one of them for someone with a bit more craft at the tip of the midfield. Generally though, using two of them with another who offers something different gives us better balance. Milner put in some excellent deliveries (again) last night and linked up really well with Firmino, the front line was equally culpable for fucking up a few good chances. And the least said about the utterly awful left side of our defense, the better.

Getting rid of the whole lot though just because we're lacking a few players is short sighted and wasteful. Can needs a kick up the arse and Henderson is clearly struggling, but they are both good players if we can get them back to their best, Milner is contributing quite well IMO.

This is Peter who defended growing criticism of Ibe a few months ago, but has fuck all to say now about the crap he's serving up week after week. Last night was another tepid, brainless display. But yeah, let's sell the whole of the midfield! I wouldn't sell Ibe either at this point, he needs work, but that's the case for about 80% of the team, the other 20% can go, but that doesn't equate to "the whole midfield", it applies to players like Moreno and Mignolet, players who have constantly let us down and contributed to our downfall.

The thing with that is that when we do eventually get the real thing we leave a hell of a mess behind. Aston Villa, Southampton, Chelsea and Man City have been on the receiving end.

Yes we do but as they say the build up can cause health issues at the rear end an kind of makes sense why we walk a fine line and defense becomes a big issue for us when shots dont go past the goal line of the vagina.

Moron, the genitalia analogies just don't work man.

"The goal line of the vagina?" The next time I fuck the Mrs, I fear I'm going to burst out laughing at some point because of this, and believe me, I'll end up on a goal drought for ages. Thanks.

Time and again we have underperformed. The same team but with very different results and the standard of play was abysmal.

Now the common excuse seems to be that we are "playing too many matches", which does have it's merit. But I'm worried that it could become a self fulfilling prophecy, an excuse for some players to underperform. For example, in some of the games after the FA cup games, the players supposedly rested did not perform any better. Someone needs to run the stats, i suspect our 1st teamers, skipping the FA cup games, could just be playing the same amount of games Spurs and Man C has, yet their players are performing much better than us on a consistent basis.

From the FA cup games, we have also seen youngsters with the hunger and drive, something we really lack in our plays sometimes. I would argue that Klopp needs to start mixing these youngsters in with the first teamers, resting those he thinks are tired, rather than changing the entire team from time to time.

I might say 'this is mark who's a lying cowardly prick' but I wouldn't. 🙂
