Liverpool vs Everton (league, home)

I think Martinez is mad if he thinks he needs to win the derby more than reach the cup final. The bluenoses have gone far beyond that kind of thing in terms of their criticism of him. He needs to win the cup. As it is, he's rested players only for them to come back for the derby, so they'll either play out of their skins against us and lose the semi final, or hold back against us, look weak, and then go into the semi final without any real momentum. There is a large section of the fans who'll attack him no matter who he loses to in the league now - they've just had enough.

Flanno will almost certainly start, can't see why Randall got the nod yesterday otherwise

Mignolet
Clyne Lovren Sakho Flanno
Stewart
Allen Milner
Coutinho
Firmino Sturridge

Origi has shaken off the niggle in his back. I'd like to play the team that finished the Dortmund match.

He's a bluffer.

He's got a lot of the worst, most irritating characteristics of Rodgers - poor defensively, too much bone-headed delusional optimism, no Plan B, over-reliance on "playing the right way" whatever that means - but if anything he's even more deluded.

Some media outlets fawned over his FA Cup win with Wigan. More accurate people saw a manager who took over a team who stayed up relatively comfortably for several previous season and lead them through two barely successful relegation battles and one failed one. His first season with Everton was impressive, but he hadn't had time to coach the defensive solidity (which Moyes had instilled) out of them yet.

You don't need trophies to be a winner. But he is a winner. 10 years at Everton for boss will prove that.

I remember that season, and Wigan very well. He got some amazing plaudits for that cup run, and also some of the league results in which some journalists eulogised over his amazingly clever, brave and innovative formations (3-4-3 etc), despite losing 3 and 4-0 home and away to the likes of Liverpool, United and Chelsea.

But that relegation had been coming for three years. The occasional good result against bigger teams, masked a far more regular defensive collapse, in which martinez's tactical ineptitude was obvious. In his first couple of seasons at Wigan they conceded 8 goals against Chelsea, and lost 9-1 to Spurs.

Where was his tactical bravery and ability then?

He's a joke.

Some points on Klopp's press conference (from James Pearce's tweets).

Klopp: "Kolo had cramp, Divock little problem with his back but no real issue. Skrtel had a groin problem before Bournemouth."

Klopp: "We don't rest players for 2 weeks. If someone saw our line up v Bourne as meaning we didn't want to win that's biggest mistake."

Klopp: "We have a situation where we can change. We felt good before game v Bourne and it will be the same v Everton. No-one will be rested"

Klopp: "We had 45 players in training. At times difficult (with injuries) but we were forced to use other players, bring guys back from loan"

Klopp: "There are more young players too. Cameron Brannagan is an outstanding talent."

Klopp: "We are a big club with big targets. We need to win big games. We can't always play young players."

I just saw this and thought I wouldn't wanna get on the wrong side of Jurgen

------------Lucas
Lucas Lucas Lucas Lucas
----Lucas --- Lucas
Lucas --- Lucas ---- Lucas
------------ Leiva

It can be done in real life. We all dream of a team of Lucases:

----------------------------------David Lucas (Fleetwood Town)--------------------------------------------
Lucas Orban(Levante)---Lucas Hernandez(Atletico M.)---Lucas Leiva (LFC)---Lucas Digne (Roma)
--------------------------------Lucas Biglia(Lazio)----Lucas Silva (Marseille)----------------------------
Lucas Moura (PSG)-------------Lucas Lima (Santos)-------------------Lucas Vasquez (Real M.)
----------------------------------------Lucas (Deportivo)-------------------------------------------------------

Subs: Lucas Ischuk (GK, Gymnasia y Esgrima), Lucas Mendes (CB, Marseille), Lucas Castro (CM, Chievo), Lucas Piazon (AM, Reading), Lucas Ocampos (AM, Marseille) Lucas Barrios (former Borussia Dortmund CF, now playing in Brazil), Lucas Joao (CF, Sheffield Wednesday)

Manager: Lucas Alcaraz (Levante, Almeria etc)

Lots of leaked/ guesswork teamsheets already, and 99% of you won't like this, but Lucas is going to start.

Mignolet

Clyne-----Lovren-----Sakho----Moreno

-----Milner-----Lucas------Allen-----------

----------------Coutinho--------------------

----Sturridge----------------Origi-----------

I hope it's more like:

--------------Mignolet-----------

Clyne----Lovren------Don't Care--------Moreno

----------Allen--------Milner-----------

Lallana-------Coutinho----------Origi

----------------Sturridge----------------

With Lallana and Coutinho dropping back into midfield to help out, as Everton will probably have three in there; Origi can run the channels and our best striker can play through the middle; genuinely don't care who plays next to Lovren, as Sakho and Toure are equally shit.

Could be interesting to have Ojo or Ibe as an option, as they both performed well in the last game. Lucas doesn't deserve to start as he was shit in the last game, because he is shit. But I have horrible feeling that the decimation of our midfield options may give him a route back into the first XI.

This is not good and if Lucas starts I don't think we will get a result.

I suspect it will be Lucas and Allen at the base of midfield, and then Milner, Coutinho and Lallana as the three behind the striker. With Origi up front. I'd rather Milner played centrally.

I don't think it will be far removed from that team, glad you seem to be taking notice of the things I say, which are usually right, as regarding team speculation.

Although I would certainly play Sturridge, for the obvious reason that he is by far our best striker. I hope Klopp agrees.
