1. Up until Mr Lim acquired the club, Valencia was the only club outside the duo of Real Madrid and Barcelona to have won the Spanish La Liga since 2001. Former Liverpool manager Rafa Benitez led Valencia to the league title in 2002 and 2004. However, Atletico Madrid on Saturday claimed its first La Liga title in 18 years by drawing 1-1 with title rivals Barcelona.

2. Due to the financial crisis, work on Valencia's new stadium – the 61,500 Nou Mestalla – stopped in 2009. The stadium has remained untouched since.

3. To stay afloat, the club had to sell key players like David Villa, David Silva, Jordi Alba, Roberto Soldado and Juan Mata - All Spanish internationals.

4. Valencia have only spent four years outside of the top flight during their 92 history. Most recently they spent a year in the second division in the 1986-87 season.

5. They are the third most successful club in Spain, with six La Liga titles and seven Spanish Copa del Rey victories. No prizes guessing who the two most successful are.[/article]

Peter Lim sounds familiar. Didnt he try to buy us aswell at some point?

Peter Lim Eng Hock (Chinese: 林榮福; pinyin: Lín Róngfú; Pe̍h-ōe-jī: Lîm Êng-hok; born 1953) is a Singapore businessman and investor. In July 2010, Forbes magazine rated eighth amongst Singapore's 40 richest people with an estimated net worth of $1.6 billion.[2] In March 2010, he was tied for #655 amongst the world's

Lim owns a series of Manchester United F.C. themed bars and clubs in Asia, which led to him bidding to take ownership of Liverpool F.C. in 2010, to expand the brand in Asia.[9][10] He has also been associated with bids to Rangers F.C. in Glasgow, Scotland, Middlesbrough F.C in England, Valencia CF in Spain and A.C. Milan in Italy. In May 2014, Lim took over ownership of Valencia CF after buying 70.4% of the shares owned by the club's foundation.[11][12]

Lifelong Utd fan as our owner. Nice.

Yeah, the cheek of him. Here's an interesting part in the local papers today:

He had previously forked out 45 million euros to buy two footballers – striker Rodrigo Moreno, 22, and midfielder Andre Gomes, 20, from Benfica and will transfer them to Valencia next season.

That's 45m of the reported 50m euros he's pledged as transfer funds used up. Rodgrigo Moreno was reported in some sources to have cost £26m (31.9m euros) when he bought his economic rights. Scored 11 goals in 25 league games in the Portuguese league. Seems like crazy spending to me unless he's marked for stardom.

They should sell the naming rights to their stadium & call it the nou metallica.
