On the footballing side of the things, the concern is that he wouldn't adapt to the league - he is a bit suspect when dealing with balls in the air. On the financial side of things, well, clearly he'll be wanting significant sums of money.

I don't think he's top draw and I'm surprised Barcelona have stuck with him for as long as they have. He'd be a strange signing for us, whatever the reasons.
He didn't used to be but he improved a lot and has been a rock at the back for Barca. One of the best around at one on one situations.

Agreed. I have watched a fair few Barca matches for the last couple of years and Valdes has kept them in the game on his own, many a times. Ironically Barca's defense reminds me of ours this season i.e. error prone and disjointed

He was never a top quality keeper to begin with. Even play for Barca does not change that. 2 good games out of 10 does not make him good. No where near Anfield please.

No, he's an excellent keeper.
But we've recently spent big on Ming, Valdes is in his 30's and would cost a lot of money, so yeah it's probably a luxury that is not worth pursuing.

Valdez is an excellent keeper. Wish we had him instead of Mingolet.
Haven't watched him enough but if he really is a level/s above Mignolet we should get him if we can, i want Mig to make it and improve but also want the team and especially the back 5 to improve also.
x1 - the guy is seriously underrated here.
So why is he not rated by many?, always thought it was a lazy thing to say that hes shite, never seen him have a bad game but don't watch loads of Barca.
