Trent, Salah and VVD

I think we’ve given him a final offer, say £400k at 3 years. Him and his agent want more and we are standing firm. No other club he would sign for have come forward with anything to convince him to join them.
We cannot actually afford more than that - so its a good deal for him - but if he wants more than we cannot afford him. I mean I heard on a channel yesterday that he is like at the moment 10% of our wage bill.

It really is a game of poker at this point, and Mo's only play is to be disruptive.
I think I’ve said elsewhere that he will see what other clubs will offer. Liverpool know he won’t get a massive deal from Madrid and any other club/league is a step down which won’t give him the spotlight his other sponsors want. We will have offered a contract on our terms and feel that he will eventually back down and sign it.

Did anyone expect the situation with 3 players to be in final 6 months contract to anything less than this?
Not sure I agree it’s distuptive as all 3 are performing well so how is it so???
Also, why are people assumibv we have offered 400k over 3yrs? Maybe FSG have changed strategy with renewals after Hendo and having Klopp gone, and with Slot being Head coach only, there is all power to Hughes and Edwards. I find the sole focus just on transition of power and blaming the players and some in media rather strange. No idea what we offered so far…

Its on the club regardless what the players says in the media. We should have wrapped this up months and years (Trent) ago.

Right now I’m on the side of the club. If the players want to stay then tell your gormless agent that you want to stay. Get the person who makes millions from the club for doing next to nothing to pick up the phone and do something.

Hey maybe gormless but has been Salah's agent for what, over 10yrs so obviously works for him and he has huge trust in him. He makes millions for the club too. I would imagine it's a two way thing and the fact there is 3 players who are the framework for us expiring at the same time, it's on the club to sort it. Not sure why you are absolving a club whom is worth 5 billion of responsibility here...

The club aren’t the ones being whiney little bitches in the media or doing stupid cunty celebrations. I’d love to see what they are being offered and see how it comes across.

The agents are leeches. Fucking parasites on the game.

Yep, with club on this one too.
In 2005 it was clear that Gerrard just wanted to win shit. When we then won the CL it didn't take long for him to sign the dotted line.

I don't believe for a second that the club in any way are purposely being disrespectful against Salah and Van Dijk. They probably made reasonable contract offers which the players keep declining. The players themselves are the ones pricing themselves out of LFC.
So good luck to them.

Yes because the club don't say fck all most of the time. We got two guys, Edwards and Hughes but as it was case before. the only one you hear from is Slot to fend off with with I'm just a head coach. Blah Blah. Which let's idle hands to speculate on what's going on when no one probably has much of a clue on current state of negotiations.
Sly lizards sit there and let Klopp burn over 2020 without any Centerbacks, sign crappy last min Melo in 2022 and joined up to Super League despite everyone else's wishes to peform one of their smart reverts.
Also didn't these fantastic owners wanted to cash out 2yrs ago but found no suitable offers? We don't know what's going on inside but to blame players is a bit one way. It is possible, FSG are not doing their part too.
Unfortunately, currently, Agents are necessary part of the game, if it wasn't for Agents then some of the players would get fleeced by some clubs whom have half a brain cell and taken advantage by Billionaire clubs and their even bigger fleet of Multi Club State/Investment Fund Owned Organisations.

Didn't Gerrard want to run away from local Gangsters as well as Feel Rafa didn't respect him renewal talks? I'm sure that was the case in summer 2025.

I remember there was talk about someone Gerrard's wife was involved before.

I think he also quoted in his book from what I remember but was ages ago, he felt club either wanted to cash in on him or wasn't felt the renewals talks weren't prompt or timely or some kind of level of miscomms back in 2005 post CL win. Rafa was never the best communicator either...

The slot thing annoys the shit out of me. The media know for a fact he’s not involved and they only keep asking because it makes clicks. The knobs who are speaking to the media (on club grounds too) about them is disrespectful in my eyes because they know the conversation will always be one way. If they want to be billy big bollocks in front of the camera then go on and tell us what the club have offered none of this bull shit about “far away”.

I also wouldn’t want Edward’s and Hughes to be coming out to the media because that’s not the done thing. Keep everything in house. The Liverpool way.

Beamy covered the inner working of the club which covers a lot of the other points you make. I’d be surprised if they didn’t look for potential buyers because I seem to remember there was changes with Capital Gains in the US and they would’ve been stupid not to explore it.

Agents also harm many, many clients and ruin careers as much as clubs do. Who was that bell end who wanted out because of bad advice from his agent? Duncan?

It’s hard to recall a time when something like this has happened at a top club, especially one competing on all fronts. You might give Hughes the benefit of the doubt on one deal, perhaps even two if you’re being generous, but it’s difficult to believe all three players are being unreasonable to the point it couldn't have had progress. It’s equally hard to imagine that the club couldn’t have secured at least one or two of these contracts by now.

Far less competent owners than FSG wouldn’t have allowed it to reach this point.

When you’re talking about £200 million worth of talent potentially signing pre-contract agreements elsewhere for nothing, and there’s still no visible progress, it’s clear that some serious questions need to be asked. This is all stuff we expected to be wrapped up early in the summer with the understanding things had already dragged on too long.

I mostly feel bad on Slot for having these distractions during a sensational session. His first year was always going to be tough enough without this sideshow.

My thoughts as well.

Edwards and Hughes may have started from a sub-optimal position but the situation we find ourselves in is unprecedented and unacceptable.

Perhaps it'll all get sorted satisfactorily in the end but if it derails this season in any way, it'll be hard to forgive and forget.

But if the players are making demands well in excess of our financial structure... who knows.

Exactly.
No one outside the club, players and a select few know what has really happened and what the current situation is.
The rest of us are just guessing.
The club has been quiet and there seems to be little in the way of press briefings other than "talks are on going" to try and control the narrative.
Virgil has been very quiet other than to answer the occasional question in which he doesn't seem to be trying to manipulate fan opinion.
Trent is pretty quiet too bar the odd cryptic media post bollocks.
Mo and his agent are constantly trying to control the narrative and galvanise fan opinion behind him.
Personally I prefer the behind doors approach but ultimately I would prefer if they all stayed.
If one or all of them decide to move then so be it.
They just become ex players whose future career I won't particularly care about.

Not the kind of update you’d want to hear.
I find it extremely strange how we handle this, and yes I know its also a tactic from Mo. But come on. We dont need these distractions when there are titles to be won.

It’s a distraction only insofar as it affects his or the team’s performance and that hasn’t been the case at all - if anything it seems to be spurring him on! Almost feels like it’s safer not to mess with the status quo until we have secured the title.
