Trent, Salah and VVD

I've already moved all love onto Connor Bradley. Any lad from Castlederg isn't daft enough to fall for Jude Bellinghams twattish handshakes and general ballbag 'look at me' behaviour.
i had a guy in work earlier trying to tell me he’s dickhead but i’m not having it, he was going in about onlyfans models and such which made it sound like quansah but he said it was definitely bradley himself on some podcast

Anyone who thinks that Madrid is a flashy city with flair and charm needs to spend a couple of days there.

It's a right shithole full of morons with an attitude that can't or won't speak a single word of anything other than Spanish, lots of tramps and world class pickpockets. Add to that a temperature of over 30 degrees from April to October and a disfunctional garbage collection and - voila, there's your flair.

I hope him and his bird enjoy the scent.

That's what I was thinking tbh. It's one of the least impressive big cities I've been to.

The glamour comes from the club.

What's your definition of world class when it comes to pickpockets? I had some guy come up and dance with me as we made our way to a bar after the CL final. We danced around a bit and then he blatantly shoved his hand in my empty pocket. I pulled it out and told him to fuck off and he ran away. Defo not world class in my book

Madrid isn't for me, and I couldn't hack the summers there (they can't either) but I really liked being there for a few months and it has a vibrant art scene. I find most Spanish cities that aren't super touristy to be very livable even if they aren't spectacular.

It's definitely not a glamorous city, but the cities in Spain I like more aren't glamorous either. Most modern construction in Spain is ugly, because Spain had no money, but most modern city building is ugly because of cars, outside of northern Europe. I prefer smaller cities in general.

Anyhow, I have a soft spot for Lavapiés. I went to a manu chao concert and went home with a girl who couldn't speak a word of English, but was filthy and enthusiastic. It was the first and only time anyone ever licked my arsehole.

I suppose that's the soft spot, my anus.

They should really get to putting a historic placard up there.

I would think it depends on what he was looking for.

I suggest most WAGs don't have a affinity towards a vibrant art scene. Maybe more to getting rimmed but who's to say.

When I decided to live overseas the only two cities in the discussion were Liverpool and Melbourne. I’ve been to over a hundred countries and Liverpool has a vibe like nowhere else. Anyone feeling unloved or lonely or searching for a belonging would absolutely fall in love with the place and the people who are some of the best in the world.

Where in Ireland are ya from Pat?

I'd argue that England shits on the rest of Europe for stuff to do for kids with lots of interests, time and cash. It's just a problem cos it's expensive to live in and it's cold as fuck. If you look at cultural and artistic output it's on a different level to most other places. Most of the big music scenes start here and gradually sprawl outwards, sometimes reinvent themselves elsewhere and end up back here packaged up differently.

There’s the problem… footballers have no taste in music.

It’s a good job no-one told Gerrard that Phil Collins was from London… he’d definitely have signed for Chelsea.

World class pickpocket, you say? Ask this guy for a recommendation.

Currently listening to some pundits on YouTube talking about the contract situation and laying the blame on FSG for not sorting it out sooner.

Here's my question, didn't FSG try getting them to sign contracts in the summer or even before that, but it's instead the players who didn't want to commit and wanted to see how it panned out with Slot?

Who's fault is it?

I think it’s a little more complicated than it’s FSGs fault.

Edward’s leaving was unfortunate, but a plan was in place - Ward leaving was a problem that took way too long to fix - the knock on effect was that we went a season without a DoF which seemingly had a knock on effect to contracts.

So that’s where I think FSG’s culpability lies - but it’s not entirely obvious why it took so long. I wouldn’t be surprised if it was to do with “robust discussions” internally and Klopp wanting his “own man” installed - or something to that effect - and this was also a factor in Klopp leaving. Could be wrong and the slow pace of the appointment piled too much pressure on Klopp in the interim.

Klopp leaving was definitely not expected and that’s clearly impacted as well.

I don’t put as much responsibility on Hughes - I don’t think these deals are as easily done as people think.

Trent Alexander-Arnold has demanded a long-term contract and a committment to make him Liverpool captain if he is to stay at Anfield.

Alexander-Arnold's current deal will expire at the end of the season and he is now free to negotiate a pre-contract agreement with an overseas side. Liverpool rejected a £20million bid from Real Madrid to sign him immediately on New Year's Eve.

------------

Do you believe this crap?
If this debacle has shown us anything it's that he doesn't seem to be captain material.
I was gonna mention how he sulked after being subbed earlier in the season but Hendo wasn't perfect in this aspect either.

It's paper talk. Give it a pinch of salt.

I think you're spot on about the DoF. The way things are structured at the club there isn't much interaction between finance and football. Basically the DoF sits as a middle-man between the manager and the admin side. The manager says what he wants, and it's the DoF who liaises with the admin side to get it done, taking their instructions on what is affordable. He also leads the negotiations and holds the relations with players and agents.
In that respect, the directors, who in a normal company would be the top authority, are effectively sidelined and kept out of the process. In truth, that's probably how it should work. Shanks was only slightly over-stepping when he said the directors are only there to sign the cheques, but in practice that's how it works. What I suspect is missing is a reporting line between the DoF and the board - DoF should be reporting regularly into the board and updating on major matters, and should be accountable to them. As it is, he's probably reporting into FSG. What that means is the directors don't always know and can't intervene when stuff has been missed. Sure, they'd have known some contracts were running down, but they wouldn't necessarily see it as their remit to get involved / put pressure on to resolve the issue.
And what that means is that ultimately it IS for FSG and the DoF to keep on top of things. I can understand why FSG waited to see if Edwards could be tempted back, but the mistake they made was in thinking they only needed a DoF for the transfer window, compounded by not having a structure in place whereby the directors could challenge that assumption or step into the breach.

Not much of an update from Slot, as expected, but he once again handled all the questions in the best possible way. Talked about how the contract issues haven't been a distraction and that he can see Trent working hard in every game and training session. No questions about Salah and Virgil.

When asked about Trent leaving/staying in January he said that Trent will play on Sunday.

That's why I will always be Slot Out - he is so boring - I don't know how much of this guy I can take - I want him to stop all this winning and no losing shit. I cannot take it anymore.
