Trent, Salah and VVD

There is no point going on about mentioning Bradley replacing Trent for remainder of the season as currently his injury record gets in the way of that being an option. Also, no point risking our season to make some kind of spiteful point. It is what it is now.
What do you think the Anfield crowd will do when they see Trent jogging back to a break when we all know he’s off?

He had a manager who he idolized allegedly whose mantra was “it’s more important how people feel when you leave”.

A manager who made sure to leave in a way that took care of the club. He’s a role model for doing things that are a win-win. But Trent has chosen a “me win” exit that screws the club out of a decent fee.

For a club like Liverpool that is more classy and has set such positive examples quite recently - he’s a disappointment if - and it’s an if - he’s leaving described in today’s reports. Especially because he’s a local lad who has been treated like gold.

It looks like he and his entourage have taken advantage of a club management transition. I think many of us expect better.
Echo have rubbished the reports which have come from the Real Madrid paper mouthpiece

Weirdly in Hamburg tomorrow as part of a Cruise. You guys aren’t selling it to me. Apparently there is a Nivea factory, hopefully no Trent posters to cream over.

I just remembered it's where Mohammed Atta started recruiting for 9/11.

If trent wasn't local i don't think he'd be that badly missed. Good attacking player, but misplaces a lot of passes, very average defensively and his tracking back is shit. He thinks he's better than he actually is.

Still can't see him staying. Romano just parrots whatever real journalists say and they're split. I dunno, I heard from a decent source that he was off before it was all over twitter and they haven't changed their message. I guess anything is possible in the next few days but it doesn't look positive.

I was upset when I heard the news but knew the news could be bull too. I think having him here till the summer makes more sense. I am sure he would rather leave on a high.
I made this post in the summer, the club's relaxed approach has led to this impasse, they should have at the very least sorted Trent's contract or sold him in the summer. Hopefully Edwards sorts this mess out

said it ages ago, i don’t overly care what he does as long as it doesn’t derail this season. to that end i hope there’s no pre contract or any announcement of one and he continues to poker face things until the end of the season.

This narrative of “we should have sorted out Trent’s contract or sold him in the summer” does my head in.

Trent isn’t a passive part of this process - he can say no or yes to any deal for us or from any club we would have sold him to.

His contract should have been sewn up the summer before - but Julian Ward leaving and big Klopp’s mate logging on from his laptop in Ibiza for a few months scuppered that - that’s were FSG dropped the ball, but I guess they weren’t expecting Klopp to leave.

There no way Hughes first act on arrival was going to try and sell Trent against his will - that would have just made the furious ones even more furious.

It’s also entirely reasonable for a player of Trent’s ability and age, to be hesitant at committing the rest of his career with a new manager coming in - he was visibly devastated at Klopp leaving - you’d want to see what the new man is like first - that’s entirely reasonable.

I also have no problem with him trying to leverage “Mo level” wages out of us - he’s vice captain, one of the best in the world in his position, uniquely skilled in that position and in his prime years.

That’s all normal and sensible behaviour.

All we can do is offer the best deal we can within the framework we’re prepared to work with, then it’s up to him to - but don’t kid yourself we could have sold him in the summer or that he’s been sitting around with a pen in his hand just waiting on a contract offer from us.

I still think he’ll sign a new contract with us.

Add in he probably would only move to Madrid who no longer pay Galactico transfer fees. They would’ve held out 12 months.

Think we’ll sell in Jan or let him go on a free?

There’s every chance Trent told us he’s not renewing 12 months ago.

If he leaves holding the PL on the open top bus i don’t think there will be many hard feelings, but ideally we avoid the press & noise affecting his performances

Absolutely.

You have to think, this is not “just” about money - it’s not as if we’ll be offering him a pittance.

If it’s in any way football related, then he’s off his rocker wanting to leave us and go to Madrid at this moment in time - despite what his Bellend mate is telling him about life in Madrid.

The thing I don’t get, is the level of vitriolic abuse levelled at him - is there a sort of expectation, particularly from locals, that because he’s a local lad “living the dream” is he supposed to just be thankful and shut the fuck up.

Also…. and I’m posing this as a question, being devil’s advocate here… Is there an underlying racial thing at play here also?

I pose these questions, because from afar, it often feels like Trent gets a harder time from our fans than other local kids that have come through the ranks - I don’t quite get it.

Will absolutely love it if he had left for his "ballon dor" only for Mo (who signed with us) or Gravenberch to win it next season.

The entire squad will be flown down to the award ceremony holding Trent placards while he is watching it on the telly.

Well, I want Trent to stay but if he decides to go, I would want him to do more than not derail this season. I would want him to do everything he can to win another title and maybe another European Cup.

He only gets slagged when Salah is overtaking him to get a challenge in. I haven't really witnessed any vitriol at all. If you're talking about twitter that's just a bin for all the world's hate. I suppose it serves that purpose if nothing else.
