Trent, Salah and VVD

It's a bit mad that Trent will be the first person to do this when we're top of the league in England and Europe, going to a side where he won't get anywhere near the love and will get a hard time if he doesn't perform from day one.

At least with Owen and Macca they could say they were off to win trophies. There's nowhere better to currently be part of a first team squad than LFC. Most big name players in Europe will want to be a part of this, but a local lad doesn't.

Fair enough, it's his life and all that, but it doesn't seem the right time for him. The club will be fine.

Kevin Keegan? I don’t know how good a team we had when he left. @Judge Jules ?

True. He did go to win European Player of the Year twice at hamburg. But hamburg? Fuck hamburg and it's needle park and people waving guns at me when I was just the DJ and nothing to do with the club owner / dealer and fuck that shit I'm never going back to hamburg.

Hamburg is really nice these days though!

This takes me back to my Love Parade trips in Berlin back in the day.

Half of the city was a post commie shambles and the other half was full of twats.

Foot in both camps for me. I played at the second one, via some long dead enormoclub based in Hannover who put some stuff on.

Keegan said one reason he left was because it wasn’t the same without Shankly.

If Trent says it’s not the same without Klopp, we’ll know for sure that we all live in a simulation and the procedural generator wasn’t designed for humans living more than 50 or so years

I can't pretend I won't be gutted, even if it's no surprise. The quality he brings on the ball is unmatched, and practically speaking, he's a £100m+ footballer leaving the club for nothing, with owners who operate on a low net spend. It's not like when we sold Coutinho, where we could reshape the side with two of the best players in the world.

With significant money (and rightly so) going on extending VVD and Salah, we'll need to pull a few rabbits out of hats in the market for new additions. That said, I’m confident we can manage it. I've been less anxious about the prospect of him leaving since watching Bradley shine. He may not become a good a footballer as Trent, but he may cause less challenges for Slot in getting the best from him. He may even welcome a more rounded footballer which Bradley can certainly be, and probably already is.

Good news about Salah and VVD, though.

Trent has probs been told he'll play further forward and fuck defending. Him and Alonso sorting next seasons tactics out with Bellingham while they play FIFA online.

I wish he'd stay and do just that but realistically he can't play our right wing because that's Salah's job and it looks like we've just bought two more years to solve that prob.

The only issue is the money. We're gonna need several players that can challenge the best team in Europe for a first team place while getting nothing for transfers out. I know CL money is huge and all that but it is for everyone. The spreadsheet lads need to go and find a load of Matips in about half a dozen positions. I guess that's what they've been up to while everyone has been calling them dickheads.

Well it wouldn't be a massive shock if they've known about and been preparing for this all season. It would explain why everything has seemed under the radar.

Weirdly in Hamburg tomorrow as part of a Cruise. You guys aren’t selling it to me. Apparently there is a Nivea factory, hopefully no Trent posters to cream over.

We'd just won our first Bigears and were ready to get better still. Similar to where we are today in some ways.

It's true that Keegan said what he said about not being the same post-Shanks, but IMO that was incidental. He was always a restless character (look at the list of clubs he built up in his subsequent career) and I think he'd have wanted to try somewhere new even if Shanks hadn't left when he did.

My mum was born in Hamburg incidentally.

Players should definitely move on if that’s what you want: but leaving on a free for me is just poor form.

It’s also disruptive to the dressing room in a big season - all by a local Lad who claims to love the club.

He’s gone down in my estimation considerably

On the day she left me, I knew something was wrong. I walked to the door through the crisp snow, atop her footsteps walking out. Her footsteps had terminated somewhere in the front garden, as though she had been spirited away.

I found it ominous and terrible and yet I opened the door.

There was nothingness, not even her scent remained. The walls warped as I stumbled into a new and empty life. She was gone.

If she really had loved me, she'd have left some money, stacks of it, in crisp bills on the table.

VVD signing three years, Salah signing two, Trent gone.

I'm not an ITK but I trust this source.

I’m kinda okay with this. Much tougher to replace the first two even though losing a prime Trent for free sucks. Should be getting 100 mill to invest in the squad.

Ah well, 2/3 aint bad.

I am not even sure if he is to sign a contract in the next few days, if I will feel the same about him as before. It feels like he is just another self centred and entitled footballer. Of course, we will never know what it is like to be someone like him and his "ambition", but he is choosing the same path as Mcmoneyman and Owen.

Indeed. He’s also the first to leave when we are winning things and being top.
If he leaves for free he’s the same as Owen and Macca for me.

Seriously, if Trent signs a pre contract with Madrid just play Bradders the rest of the season…because Trent will be vilified by a section of the crowd.

He had a manager who he idolized allegedly whose mantra was “it’s more important how people feel when you leave”.

A manager who made sure to leave in a way that took care of the club. He’s a role model for doing things that are a win-win. But Trent has chosen a “me win” exit that screws the club out of a decent fee.

For a club like Liverpool that is more classy and has set such positive examples quite recently - he’s a disappointment if - and it’s an if - he’s leaving described in today’s reports. Especially because he’s a local lad who has been treated like gold.

It looks like he and his entourage have taken advantage of a club management transition. I think many of us expect better.
