Trent, Salah and VVD

He's been better. He's not been very good. It's not hard to be better than he was last year...

Thats simply not true. He's been excellent, so far his statistics for tackles won per 90 has increased from 1.08 last season to 1.69, while his dribbled past numbers have more than halved, going from 2.5 to 1.08 this season.

Excellent.

Respectfully, I disagree... Stats can show us anything that we want to see. Purely watching the matches, I see a marked improvement, yes. But he's still poor back there, and even jogging slowly back towards our own goal would constitute an improvement on last year's disgrace.

I don't agree. If you look purely at the games and not stats then its quite clear to see that he has been excellent.

It’s simple for Trent - if he stays, he’ll be regarded as our best RB ever by the time he hangs up his boots and he’ll potentially captain the side to trophies, all while being one of our top paid players ever.

He might not get a stand named after him or a bronze statue… but he’s in line for having a corporate dining suite named after him.

If he leaves, his murals will be painted over and he’ll be on loan to Juventes within a year with Italian & Spanish fans posting about the whinging Englishman that misses his Yorkshire Puddings and mushy peas, misses his mammies boobie juice and hates the fine range of mountains they have to offer.

Then he’ll end up signing for Everton.

Personally for me he'll be regarded as a decent fullback but not a great one. whether he leaves or stays. Definitely not our best RB ever that's for sure which is why i don't think he's worth being our highest paid player. But if he leaves on a free he's a cunt.

There’s really only Nicol that comes into the equation as being better - Trent wins a few more trophies, maybe as captain, then I think he’s got a good shout.

He’s already the top assist providing defender ever - I don’t see why people seem ignore that.

I’m not really sure what it is about Trent that turns people off - I think he an excellent footballer and I’d easily have him in our best team ever.

As you may know, Nicol is my all time hero, but I don't think he was better than Trent as a right back; the fact he played, right back, left back, center back & across the midfield and did all those roles to a very high level was what marked him out, but in a straight choice for right back I'd go for Trent.

There may be an argument for Phil Neal, but I only got him towards the end of his career, so can't comment.

He is a excellent footballer, but just a average defender IMO of course. His style of play more suited klopp where he was given a lot more freedom to make use of his range of passing. In slot system he's been asked to focus on defending so he doesn't look as good. Plus i'd like to see more effort when it comes to tracking back.

I'd rather see more effort in making overlapping runs in attack. This used to be the best part of his game, opening up space for Mo or for himself and getting balls into the box. Rarely happens now.

It helps if you haven't pre-decided that he's a cunt. Some people like to watch with shit-tinted specs. It helps them get weally angwy on the tinterclacker.

It also helps if you haven't been brainwashed into thinking that he can never do anything wrong, 'coz he a local lad who's come up through the academy... If I think anything negative about him, it's because he's shown me the behaviour that I dislike. Some people like to watch with red-tinted specs. It helps them get weally childish on the tinterclacker.

I'd take prime Steve Finnan over Trent every day of the week.

Ya'll with me my Paddy friends?

He's filming a good bye video with that girl who does these "spend a day with..." videos with our players, Rubi something.
Whenever a journo or similar pretends to have a story and asks a question like that, the answer is always "No".
Our finance team once went to London for a meeting because one of our guys who lived down there had had an accident and was wheelchair bound. We met in a private room in a public building (LFC didn't have an office in London in those days) and it was around the time of the Suarez transfer to Barcelona. Coming out of the meeting we were approached by a journalist who asked if we'd been secretly discussing the Suarez deal. He was told no, we were just there for a routine finance meeting, which we were.
The next morning in the Mirror the non-story ran under the headline "Luis Suarez transfer: Were Liverpool's finance chiefs in London to finalise Barcelona deal?", to which the answer was "No", like we told them.
So whenever you see a headline with a question mark at the end, the answer is always "No", and the journalist knows that's the answer.
"Could broccoli give you cancer of the fingernails?". No.
"Is [Trent's] contract announcement getting recorded?" No.

EDIT - not having a go at @rurikbird who I know shared this in all good faith (and optimism).

I feel like Rob Jones is one of those players that developed into a mythical talent far greater than he actually was due to not actually playing “that” much.

In all honesty, I don’t remember much about him as he was playing in the shit Souness years and I was living in Scotland and more engaged with the SPL at the time.
