I hate it when they show every goal over and over. But I do like seeing that his weakness is discipline. I miss Luis.

Yeah, I've never actually seen him play a full match but had read in a number of reports (including the summer) that we were after him.

He does look good but can't help feel we're still placing a lot of faith in Sturridge - fitness wise - for this season if we go for him. Could be an unexpected wonder buy but pretty sure he'd need at least a year to get going in this league.

He looks to be more of a finished article than Markovic though.

Yeah, he looks more purposeful when he runs - though, as I said, I haven't seen him play a full match. Maybe those are just his highlights.

That said, 18 goals in 72 games in Argentina is hardly a compelling stat to hang a scout on. The fact he looks better in LaLiga than he did in his home country is unusual and it's hard to, rationally, hold a scout accountable for not predicting that.

His movement looks good though - would it be as vibrant against English defences?

This is from 2 weeks ago. Not a perfect game from him by any stretch and his team seemed to be under the cosh for much of the game, but I like that he never stopped trying and got his reward in the end.

Must admit I've never heard of him before but is definitely my type of player. Very quick and skillful. Reminds me of torres in a way. I think its the way he runs.

Rodgers: "I don't think January is a good time to spend. I'm happy with how the group is progressing after tough start to the season."

Brendan Rodgers: "There won't be much activity for us in January. My job is to maximise talent here."

Second quote seems a dig at fsg

how can he really have a dig at FSG? I mean - I'm a fan of his - but he spent 100+ million on players (with or without the committee). Talent is there ... I think it's more of how he looks at himself, and also smokes n' mirrors ... We'll sign Cech on loan.

Well, my bet would be that those words "with or without the committee" are more important than you allow for in that post, Wizzy. I wonder whether it was made clear to Rodgers before he signed his contract that he'd have to work with such a committee, and I also suspect at least one or two signings - Balotelli prominent among them - were the committee's choices and would definitely not have been his. He's got questions of his own to answer, principally about our defensive organisation, but I'm guessing he resents taking stick for the effect of decisions which weren't his. Wouldn't we all?

On the most part the transfer committee is a good thing, signing players like laser, origi and can show that.

However replacing the 3rd best best player in the world with Mario and Ricky was abasymal and we are paying the price

And rightly so, young Master Rodgers. There is plenty of talent in the first team squad and at the academy that needs gelling, nurturing and to be developed.

It would be interesting to know whether Rodgers' private views now are the same as those he expressed openly in that article.

Someone on here (can't remember who) said a while ago that Rushy was also a member of the committee, though I suppose he could have been added after that article was written.

Rumour has it that Ayre had his very own diecast motorcycle made to replace the boot as his Monopoly piece.

That's strange. I'd have though he'd enjoy having that boot walk all over him, again and again and again ...
