We shor try to offload borini and lucas.
We need to get rid of Borini for 10m + if possible and get a keeper (Cech on loan would be awesome) and a top level striker. We need a good DM, GK, and striker
Heard this tonight:
We want to sign a big name apparently, the intention is to sign a top brass striker. Too many worries over Sturridge, unrest between Rodgers and the board over ending up with Balotelli, whom Rodgers didn't draw up, but said he would try to work with as he saw him as a project of sorts who he would "try" to shape.
It hasn't worked out and now the board are giving more control to Rodgers with an eye to the Summer. Rodgers feels like he's been screwed over after saying he wouldn't work under a Director Of Football, and then being ushered into a working relationship with a transfer panel, which more or less amounts to the same level of compromise - and Ayre as the deal breaker.
This would essentially be a big signing that would make or break Rodgers, at least in terms of how much impact it has on the rest of the season, and how much leverage that gives him next Summer - ie, he'll have made his bed. If we don't qualify for Europe, he'll have a significantly smaller budget to work with. So the board are essentially giving him a rod for his own back, or the freedom to have full control - again with no excuse making or finger pointing.
Interestingly, I heard that they have and pretty much always have had a plan B in place in terms of a list of candidates to sound out, should things go tits up. Covering all angles - young, experienced etc. And the list did include Rafa, they have had him earmarked as an option since the Summer of 2012, but the board see him only as a short term option whom would be more or less be made to work with what he has, in this instance at least. The AVB link was kosher, worryingly. Rodgers is aware of this "sounding out" (and is fucked off), something the American's see as fair play, in covering the interests of the club for all eventualities, something Rodgers would see as undermining.

No way on this earth should we complicate this window by trying to get a DM. On the list of necessities that role isn't even the next on the list. Unless we offload Lucas in January - in which case we're mad. Not because he's irreplaceable but because we've got enough on our plate without trying to bed in another player.

Notwithstanding our recent exchanges on the subject of Lucas, I wouldn't want him to go in this window either. Neither, however, would I say it makes sense not to add to the squad in that position. Ironically enough, as the squad currently stands I suspect he *is* irreplaceable or pretty close to it, and we can't be having that.
Surprised I haven't seen it anywhere on here... some rumblings (from Villa's end apparently) that we're after Delph.
Delph was one England's best players in the recent fixtures

Do you reckon? I thought he looked technically off the pace, he did get involved, fair play to him, but he gave the ball away a fair bit and looked fairly clueless at times. I like him though, I think he's a decent player, but he'd be overpriced.
I've spoken about Perin before, but I can't see us getting him. He's touted as the next Italian no. 1, and he'd cost a bomb. I can see him going to one of Serie A's big boys. I'm also not particularly confident of getting a really young keeper and coaching him well enough into a top class keeper.
I'd rather get someone who's more a finished article - someone with maybe Mignolet's profile when we signed him (but better, of course).
Don'tTony Evans has heard that Torres to us is a done deal.
