I don't think there was ever a confirmed bid of £70m, was there? And in any case, Torres made it pretty clear he didn't want to go to City.

And Spider: I thought the same thing, when Torres went off. He didn't look exactly gutted, did he?
As I said the other week, when Gerrard got his equalizer, he ran right past Torres without even a glance at him for the assist.

Summits up there.
Yes, I noticed that too. It did strike me as a bit odd as the two of them are usually all over each other. Gerrard barely acknowledged him for the pass.

Maybe Gerrard told him to pull his finger out, I hope so.

@Spidey, re-read my post, I'm saying the sale of Torres, might have saved us from Hodgson all together. So, I guess I'm effectively saying I would have trusted Rafa more with the money than Roy, and that's saying something.

Didn't Rafa claim he would walk if Torres was sold? I suppose that might have saved us a few million...

I had my outburst at Torres in the summer, and I stand by it. We should have sold him.

I feel physically sick watching players who look like they can't be arsed to play for us, and Torres is the worst of them. I'm done with him, and have been since he was happy to be a little bitch all summer, sadly he's continued on with it into the season.

to be fair to torres, look how he is being used. he is being as asked to hold up punted ball up to me, hold off burly defenders on his own and feed of literally a couple of chances per game.

Torres feeds off Gerrard behind him a lot for his service. That's not happened with Roy playing SG far too deep. It doesn't take a genius to work that out. Footy is simple yet some managers feel the need to over complicate it. When they start doing that it's a sign they're really at a loss what to do.

We've become the club of excuses.
Ah yes, but theres a reason for that ....... 😀

ITS A JOKE (Before anyone starts)

Torres has withdrawn from the Spain squad.

The Echo says he'll have a scan, but it's a pull not a tear. And thats very good news.

Found it odd when Torres jogged off the pitch. For a minute I thought he was acting the cunt.

He was probably too important to warm up properly.

Ha, indeed.

Budgie isn't "overcomplicating anything". He's kept it simple. Simple and wrong and shit.

to be fair to roy if gerrard moves further forwards you lose his creativity through the middle of the park, he (gerrard) can't be in two places at once. in an ideal world the role gerrard performed as a forward cole should now be taking off gerrard's hands (with gerrard moving deeper) but that just hasn't happened.

I thought everyone *wanted* Gerrard to play in central midfield? I thought that *was* the simple, obvious thing?
Not when your central midfield is 10 metres in front of your back four.

No, everyone sitting in banks of four, way too deep. So Torres is on his fucking tod.
And Meireles isn't a right midfilder.
And Crapsen isn't a footballer.

No. Everyone wanted Mascherano and Alonso to play there, with Gerrard further up. But when the alternative is Lucas and Poulsen it is bloody obvious that everyone want Gerrard there instead. If Itandje was still around and Reina broke his leg, everyone would want Gerrard to play there instead!

Why do people mentioning Alonso on here? You do it on purpose, don't you? DON'T YOU?!
Who said Alonso?? I meant Xabi of course. Sorry.

Anita, I'm happily married, but I feel jilted and wronged when I think of our Xabi in someone else's colors!

Look at them, him and Arbeloa, not sparing us a second thought. Loving life, scumbags.

70m and yes we should.
Yep.
See this is what we've become because of the sheer greed of our owners.

Selling Torres wouldn't help anything. Instead our manager should've been given the money to spend on a more than decent back-up instead. Take some of the burden of Torres shoulders and then we should just wait for him to come back to his best without forcing him or asking to much of him constantly.

Selling Torres would've just speeded up the journey to mediocrity where we're seemingly headed.
Having £70million to spend on another striker, a decent CM and a wide player would have helped us a help of a lot more than Torres did last season or has this season. It might have even been enough to save us from Hodgson.
If Torres had been sold for £70m, Hodgson would have been lucky to see half of it. Which is precisely why we should be holding on to all of our best players. The alternative isn't worth thinking about. Just look at who we've replaced Alonso and Mascherano with.

If Budgie sold Torres for £50m he'd dodder out and buy Simon Davies, Kevin Davies and fucking Steve Davies as a motivational speaker

There's that name again...

I hear you Del. Obviously the Aqua and Keane buys were disasters, and there wasn't much time to spend the Mascherano money before the window closed. I'm not even saying that I would trust Roy with the money, the problem is that I wouldn't have trusted Benitez with it either. My venting at Torres is purely out of frustration, and I'm honestly disgusted by him since last season. I don't want to hear about how good a player is and about what he deserves when he doesn't show that of himself when he's on the pitch.

People can make every excuse in the world for him, since last season, bar a couple of games, I've seen a player who looks like he can't be bothered, and for all the crap players we have in the squad, how mad can you be at them for being crap? It's not their fault, but to have a player with bags of ability looking and playing like he doesn't give a toss is a far worse crime in my book.
Probably best that he's not playing.
You mean, because he's injured? That would seem self evident.

Or you mean in general, because that would be silly.
