Torres

It's been confirmed that it was a groin injury, but not any updates about how long he will be out.

Just in time to miss an international, about time we got it the right way round for once!

Harldly a big loss.

although it did finally seem as though he was interested in putting in some effort

I think he's on his period.
Ha. Yet again though we suffered from the lack of striker cover that's been a glaring fucking problem for two seasons now. David Ngog is a £1.5m player, and looks like one. He's like a big fairy tiptoeing around the park at times. He is not good enough.

70m and yes we should.
Caveat: As long as the money is spent on players and reducing debt.

We didn't trust Rafa on spending that money on new players and we cannot trust Roy for that kind of money on new players. So the question is, who is the right person to spend the whatever amount we get for Torres in future?

Get Hiddink in. Or Pellegrini.

Yep.

£70 for Torres? ha as if.

We'll be lucky to get £30m for him.

Done naff all for six months - massively injury prone.

Yeah when he's fit as the best striker in the world. The last time he was that was approximately a year ago.

Whats his record 46 goals in 51 games at anfield isn't it?

LFC league games/goals: 86 / 57
Total LFC games/goals: 125 / 73

Just imagine what he would do in a team that knew how to give him fucking chances, we don't even give him the ball more than 4-5 times

What, like Spain?

He loves hoofball and his number 1 strike partner is Reina.

See this is what we've become because of the sheer greed of our owners.

Selling Torres wouldn't help anything. Instead our manager should've been given the money to spend on a more than decent back-up instead. Take some of the burden of Torres shoulders and then we should just wait for him to come back to his best without forcing him or asking to much of him constantly.

Selling Torres would've just speeded up the journey to mediocrity where we're seemingly headed.

Its what we were offered by city when Torres was good.

Having £70million to spend on another striker, a decent CM and a wide player would have helped us a help of a lot more than Torres did last season or has this season. It might have even been enough to save us from Hodgson.

hodson has
* resigned aurelio
* bought kenchesky
* bought poulsen
* bought cole (who may have come anyway)
* bought meireles (who to be fair looks half decent)

you trust him to spend money wisely? I don't.

I think Rafa did the Danny wilson deal
Its recorded as Hodgepodge though:

Players bought by Roy Hodgson

Player From Fee Date
Joe Cole Free Transfer Free 21.07.2010
Danny Wilson Rangers £2,000,000* 21.07.2010
Fábio Aurélio Free Transfer Free 31.07.2010
Christian Poulsen Juventus £4,550,000* 11.08.2010
Brad Jones Middlesbrough £2,300,000 18.08.2010
Raul Meireles Porto £11,500,000 29.08.2010
Paul Konchesky Fulham £3,500,000* 31.08.2010

Rafa's last official signings are:

Jonjo Shelvey Charlton £1,700,000* 10.05.2010
Milan Jovanovi? Standard Liege Free* 08.07.2010

Jova is recorded as a Rafa signing because the deal was in place, although Hodge was manager when he actually signed.

First off there's no-one saying that our manager would've actually been allowed to spend all of that fee should we have sold. They haven't been allowed to do so for the past few years at least.

Secondly selling one of the best players in the world would always send a very clear sign to everyone inside and outside the club. We are not aiming for the top anymore. This is Ful... sorry Liverpool FC and we'd love to play in the Europa League.

I don't think there was ever a confirmed bid of £70m, was there? And in any case, Torres made it pretty clear he didn't want to go to City.

And Spider: I thought the same thing, when Torres went off. He didn't look exactly gutted, did he?

As I said the other week, when Gerrard got his equalizer, he ran right past Torres without even a glance at him for the assist.

Summits up there.

Yes there is, Christinan Purslow.

"17. Were players sold against their wishes this summer to reduce our wage bill and reduce the debt against the club?

"I have already answered the first part of that question which is that no player sales would be used to reduce debt. Every penny from the sale of players goes back into buying players. As for wages, our wage bill has actually gone up this year versus last year."
