Time for Bellamy to start every game

So I know we spent 35m and everyone wants him to succeed but................

has the time come for Bellamy to be a regular starter in the league instead of Carroll?

He's looked so sharp anytime he's come off the bench (Hit the post against Stoke, heavily involved in the derby opener), has scored twice and been a real live wire.

Carroll on the other hand has looked sluggish at the best of times.

I know Bellamy is getting old and he can't play 2 games a week but with our reduced games this year he should be fine.

Time to play him and Suarez every week for 3/4 to let them gel and start putting teams away.

He can't. His knees aren't up to it.

Did he not say his knees aren't up to 90 mins twice a week?

As we are not in Europe only 1 game a week should be fine.

right now i'd prefer him replacing Downing in the team rather than Carroll .

One thing's for sure , i like having him back in the squad , he has some bite and yes the potential to bash you with a golf club but you know he genuinely appreciates being here .

He should be starting every game, but not in place of Downing or Carroll (who needs to start games himself)

regards

I think you're saying Kuyt must drop out, are you not?

I love Dirk, but I would also be tempted to give this a whirl.

I would agree with this as much as I hold his Royal Dirkness close to my heart.

Completely agree.

Fuck Dirk off.

He should surely play a lot more. I think Bellamy, Enrique and Suarez will play well together.

One would assume if we're gonna risk his knees playing him more often than he's comfortable with we'd do it towards the end of the season.

oh one would, would one?

maybe he has looked sharp BECAUSE he is not playing full games?

I think he has only played one full match (against Brighton) and the rest of his appearances don't even add up to two games' worth of time.

True but it doesn't seem to help Carroll when he plays every game either!

It seems to be accepted that Bellamy can't play every match (and even in his slightly younger days he was forever picking up injuries) so I would rather see him play most of the season as an impact player than have him burn out early on in the season

He came off on Saturday because he'd played in that stupid fucking friendly in Scotland. He was one of our better players to.

*shakes fist at the nobhead who organised that friendly*

But yeah, he's the best winger we've got at the min. Most direct anyways.

I think downing is unfairly maligned, if we could finish worth a shit he would high up the list of assists.

That wasn't a dig at Downer. I think he did well for the first part of the second half but crap when he ended up on the left, where Bellamy had been doing well.

I don't know who I'd start on Saturday.

Maybe

------------Keeper
------------Defence
-Downing-Gerrard-Henderson/Adam-Bellamy
----------Carroll-Suarez.

Krump can you not use that nickname for Downing please mate ? - it can cause offence and upset some people. Thanks la.

Granted the pace of the Championship and Premier League might be different but the no. of mins in clocked up for league appearances for Cardiff City last season equates to 33 full matches. That said, with 2 goals in 4 apps (subbed in thrice and subbed out once), he seems to be utilized correctly, .

GARY SPEED believes Craig Bellamy will lead rampant Wales into the 2014 World Cup qualifiers following a man-of-the-match display in the rout of Norway.

The Liverpool striker curled a beauty from the edge of the area in the 16th minute
to double the Dragons’ advantage after Gareth Bale’s early strike.

Erik Huseklepp halved the deficit for Norway on 61 minutes following a defensive mix-up between Wales goalkeeper Wayne Hennessey and Andrew Crofts.

But substitute Sam Vokes grabbed a brace in the closing moments – his first from close-range after Bellamy and Bale combined, the second a powerful drive from 20 yards after beating Rune Jarstein.

Those goals sealed the biggest victory of Speed’s 11-month tenure and the delighted Wales boss is confident former captain Bellamy, 32, will carry on in a bid to reach the next global finals in Brazil.

Speed said: “I know Craig better than anyone, and I don’t think he would be here now if he didn’t think he’d be here for the World Cup. It’s our goal and ultimate aim. Hopefully it is his as well – I’m sure it is.

“I wouldn’t say he’s rolled back the years because he’s always performed like that for us. I can’t speak highly enough of Craig. His workrate and football intelligence is as good as there is and his goal was fantastic.

“As a team goal, the third was brilliant and Craig’s intelligence made it.”

Bellamy’s fellow winger Bale showed just why Pep Guardiola has sent his Barcelona scouts to watch him in the Premier League.

Bale set Wales on their way in the 11th minute, thrashing the ball home after a neat one-two with Steve Morison.

Speed insisted his defence also deserved credit after a fourth win in five games against a nation ranked above them in the FIFA standings.

Speed added: “I don’t think it was an easy win but we have got so much going forward we will always create and score goals.

“They were four fantastic goals. It wasn’t a 4-1 game but we deserved to win.

“The team were excellent and the first 20 minutes was the best we’ve played.”

After failing to qualify for Euro 2012, this result capped off a miserable year for the Scandinavian nation.

Norway coach Egil Olsen praised his opposition and said: “I was very impressed by Wales. They have high-class players in Bellamy, Bale and Ramsey, and they are a very good team.

“Wales should be optimistic because they have a young team who will be good in the future.”

if only his knees were up for weekly games.
[/quote]

But he played even more mins in the league than Kuyt did for us last season. Besides, if he helps us in terms of finishing chances and building up leads, he can be subbed out and rested

If his knees aren't up to playing more than what he has played for us so far, then we shouldn't have signed him.

I think it's certain that we are under-utilizing him to our detriment. He is clearly capable of playing more minutes than he has so far. It irrelevant to talk about his knee problem. He hasn't even been injured once, since signing for us.

So my conclusion is that we are not using him for tactical reasons, and it appears to be the wrong decision so far....but who knows may be we will be worse when he plays more.

you could argue we swaped one impact sub for another

Ramsey, 20, said: "Whenever someone moves to a new club they are going to be excited by that and the season ahead. I think he has that spark in him again and he's shown that. Hopefully he will keep that going.

"Craig is a great player and has a lot to offer. Wales weren't getting great results a year ago but there is a new buzz playing for the country and the results have shown that. Everyone can see how promising this team looks.

"But Craig is still a massive player for us. He was a threat against Norway and he showed that by belting in his goal. We hope to keep him for a long time. He's at a great club, is in really good form and I'm sure he will keep going until the next World Cup if he keeps himself fit."

Arsenal midfielder Ramsey says his international team-mates are fully benefiting from his wealth of experience. "Craig is one of the best professionals in the game. His attitude is second to none and he's not shy to get in people's heads as well.

"In the changing room everyone has their opinions and discussions but Bellamy's experience is massive to us and he has been around the block a few times. It is going to do nothing but help us.
