I've seen several posters suggesting that Sturridge won't get on with Herr Klopp, or isn't Klopp's style of player. Sturridge definitely doesn't have the work rate of Suarez, or even Ings, but he is definitely the biggest talent we have in the squad and knows how to find the back of the net.

Do we really think Sturridge will wash out under Klopp? And, if so, does this worry us? Especially if our other main striker, the one who cost 30M+ may also wash out?

We are focusing too much on Klopp's 'gegenpressing' and not enough on the other player facets he looks for ... someone who has good technical skills and is clinical enough to hit the back of the net regularly. Sturridge is damn good at that last bit and good enough at the former.

Hopefully Sturridge is prepared to adapt and improve his game under Klopp, if he's not, you have to question his mentality. I'm pretty sure he'll be fine though.

People seem to think Sturridge is lazy but I don't agree.

In his only fit season with he covered 11.7km a game on average.

I'd be more worried about a manager who couldn't work with Sturridge.
He certainly comes across like it, but it's probably more to do with his demeanour that any real evidence, as that stat suggests.

That's not to be overlooked. He covered acres of ground in his stellar season and was key along with Suarez and Sterling to our high pressing game.

To conclude from his subsequent returns from injury that he lacks application overlooks the likely fact that he was feeling his way back into the side gradually (and wisely).

Plus Lewandowski averaged 11.1km in his CL campaigns under Klopp. We're underestimating both Klopp and Sturridge if we say they can't work with each other.

They both seemed chuffed to bits when they signed for us and that might suggest they'll click as individuals. Playing-wise I have no doubt they can work well together, because the Studge is quality and Klopp will recognise that. There are no guarantees obviously, but I'm optimistic.

That's essentially what I'm getting at - Klopptoberfest will be over real soon in my mind if our one true class player is discarded pronto.

And obviously the fact that everyone who says it are just racists using a Ron Atkinson stereotype

I just don't see anything changing in the short term. I take Klopp at his word when he says he'll work with the players and get the best out of this squad.

Doesnt Sturridge have a better goal per game ratio than Owen, Torres, and Suarez at this stage in their careers?

I highly doubt a manager like Klopp wouldnt be willing to work around that level of performance.

Sturridge will be just fine if he stay fit. Lets just hope the worst is behind him and he find form going into a busy program ahead.

Thank you everyone for reassuring me - was wondering if I was the only one who thought the idea of Sturridge being discarded was ridiculous.

Sturridge is lazy in the same way that Sakho is a clumsy passer. It looks like it should be true and that's good enough.

Also racism obv.

I wouldn't go so far as to call it racism. I don't think Sturridge is downright lazy, that title is reserved for Balotelli.
Sakho has imo time and time again showed that he under pressure isn't the safest guy with the ball at his feet.
Maybe I'm a self hating black guy?
Nah, I'm probably just someone who sticks to his convictions like stink on garbage.

I don't think Sturridge is lazy, but he's more of the mopey sort of striker like Torres was. Just like Torres he's only willing to do one thing, but it involves natural goal scoring, so you should be able to work with that, and you kindof have to when the team doesn't score lots of goals. Just like Torres at the end, the difficulty is that he's unreliable and plays himself into form.

There could absolutely be issues with Sturridge's valuation given his injury record down the line, and it could make sense to discard him at the right price, but there shouldn't be issues on the pitch.

Sturridge is in trouble. Klopp is not impressed.

He's our best striker - I'm sure Klopp will be most concerned with whether he puts the ball in the net.

Plus, Sturridge is no diva so I'm sure he'll get stuck in.

Its not that Sturridge is lazy its more that he seems to have a bit of a sulk on at times. When his head drops his workrate goes with it. I have no doubt Klopp will be building his attack around Sturridge to get the best out of him because hes easily our best striker.
