This is so stupid..

almost 70% of the players the manager has signed hate him... is that just plain stupid or what??

Rafa's fucked either way.. he either pisses +5 million pound investments off regularly or he signs players with terrible attitudes in the first place.

One for the rumours list - Jan Vertonghen for £11m

Oh, and he's a centre back. Obvs.

Ziegler to make Anfield switch

Liverpool are ready to make an £8.5m move for Sampdoria's left sided player Reto Ziegler, according to the Daily Mail. The former Spurs man can play at left-back or left-wing, and is thought to be employed in defence by Rafa Benitez. Juventus, Atletico Madrid and Fiorentina are also said to be interested in the Swiss international.

Isn't one shit Swiss player enough?

I'm guessing he's shit. He is shit, right?

He's fucking garbage. It is the Daily Mail, though.

However, with most top stars currently away on international duty in the build up to next month’s World Cup in South Africa, the Spaniard insists it’s a difficult time to do business.

“We are working on our signings for the next transfer window,†Benitez said.

“But now we have the added difficulty that the World Cup always brings.

“I have my ideas and I know what I want, but we just have to wait.â€

*Phew*

At least we're going for internationals!

Reds target Valencia star
20th May 2010 - Media Watch

Liverpool are looking to make a hopeful bid to bring Valencia attacker Juan Mata to Anfield.

Rafa Benitez is willing to offer Spanish international Albert Rieira as part of a cash plus player bid for the impish 22 year old.

Benitez is currently unsure of what sort of transfer budget he will be given this summer as the Merseyside outfit looks for new investment so is looking at ways to bring in new additions by offering players he deems as surplus to requirements.

Rieira has never really got going at the club since his move from Espanyol in September 2008 and was reportedly close to making a move to Russia two months ago but may now be used as a makeweight in a deal to sign £16m rated Mata who can play in a number of attacking positions ranging from an orthodox winger to part of a two man strike pairing.

Valencia are in dire financial straits and are more likely to consider offers for Juan Mata so as to avert the need to cash in on the likes of David Silva and David Villa

Rafa targets West Ham pair
Liverpool boss Rafa Benitez is hoping to land West Ham pair Valon Behrami and Matthew Upson.

The Anfield manager has previously been linked with both Upton Park players but will this summer push on with attempts to bring in new talents to the club by offering squad players in part exchange in order to save spending cash.

Right-sided Swiss international Valon Behrami will be starring in next month's World Cup and could well be one player on his way to an Upton Park exit. Co-owner David Sullivan has stated that practically his entire team is available at the right price and Benitez is an admirer of the former Lazio man.

Benitez is also a fan of England international centre-back Matthew Upson and is reportedly hoping to bring in a new defender to help shore up the Liverpool back line that was especially leaky during the first half of this season.

Apparently we will sign the winner of a Vietnamese reality TV show star, the winner of the talent contest will win a 12-month contract. Sweet...

Behrami's a decent player, as is Upson, despite a poor season.

Mata's quality too.

Landing all of them would represent a decent summer all things considered (not at the expense of Reina, Torres or Gerrard, obv)

Except that they've already cashed in on Villa.

I think that 40m they've got should help to keep them from selling anymore of their better players, well on the cheap at least.

Do you honestly think it would? The priority positions are LB, CM and striker, surely?

Liverpool FC boss Rafa Benitez wants to bring to Real Madrid legend Raul to Anfield this summer. The Spanish legend may be granted leave from his lucrative Bernabeu contract raising the prospect of the Merseyside club signing him on a free transfer. (Daily Mail)

I think Behrami can play in centre midfield and would be a good signing.

As for Upson, is Rafa going to push Agger out to LB?

Mata would be fantastic.

Raul I wouldn't mind if his wages weren't too high.

We need a first choice LB and back up striker as well, but we also need more match winners in the side. If Yossi and Riera are both of they'll need replacing, which I'm guessing explains the links to Mata and Behrami.

Carragher will be fucked next season too if he plays a full WC, so I could understand us getting a CB this summer.

We've got holes everywhere and we're not going to be able to cover all bases.

Upson would be a shit signing.
[/quote]

It fits Rafa's recent proclamation that we're always looking out for British players.

I dont know Keni, I thought Upson can be a pretty useful player, just that he's injury prone.

Mata would be an amazing signing, especially if we can fuck riera off to them in the deal.
Behrami can play midfield aswell as RB, so we would have cover for Johnson.
Upson is ok but i would rather sign Kjaer instead as he is younger and has better potential, also if it doesnt work out we can still sell him for a decent fee.
Raul i wouldnt mind him as back up, he would be a better option than some of the other garbage we have had previously
Ziegler well i really hope this is made up, he is shit 🙁

Is Mata better than Silva? Villa might have opened the door for the Valencia Exodus.

Reto Ziegler can get to fuck. 8.5 million? No way.

On a side note, I see San Jose has a buy out clause of €30mil. I know La liga clubs have a habit of slapping huge buy out clauses on their players but that seems a bit steep for a player they signed for 2.7 million?

Well that's just it. He's injury prone and given his age, things aren't going to get any better for him on that front. Plus I don't think he's good enough to justify the bother.

I'm not sure why on earth we would need another centre half. Ayala is good enough as back up. Behrami and Parker would be the 2 WHU players to get. Upson is past his best. Behrami could easily play) and Magic could move further forward. Use the money to address our inherent weakness on the left by getting Mata for starters.
