i think he might bring back some of that determination and he knows the league and situation well...

Also.. im sick of lightweight foreigners having problems settling into the country.. getting my hopes up and then fucking off because the dont like the rain.

Roy's appointment is being hailed by a tremendous surge of apathy from the supporters. In my opinion this is a good thing, because he won't have the problem of unrealistic expectations.

Woy Hodgson, Liverpool manager

What a sick fucking joke
[/quote]

I concur with that sentiment. ^^

No surprise there then! After all, Rafa was God.

Sick fucking joke, yeah right. Manager's are just aplenty at the moment and banging the door down ready to come in.

There's only one manager in the game I'd have liked to have seen appointed and that was Jose, everyone else seems much of a muchness, and I agree with the point regards him being English, it DOES matter. Are people suggesting problems haven't arisen due to our last two managers being unfamiliar with the league and full of overworked, over-complicated, continental football ideas?

It'll be refreshing to have a manager who does the basics well and one who can see the wood for the trees.

Yeah, to combat that we need a manager whose only meagre success has been abroad (albeit in really shit leagues), and has just led Fulham to 12th in the Premiership.

In case you lived on Mars for the best part of a decade, English managers are shit.

I said the only manager I'd have been 'happy' with was Jose. I know it's not the most inspiring appointment, but all things considered, it's a logical (if only short term) option and he has shown a good understanding of the English game and an ability to do well in Europe while sticking to the very basics of the game.

I really don't get your constant "12th" jibes, it was Fulham, they nearly got relegated the season before and barely had the squad to cope with the league, never mind that and a full run in the Europa League.

Did you expect them to finish in the top 4?

This notion that continental managers over-complicate things when all you need is a good 'ol English manager that will keep things simple really fucks me off.

English managers are so shit, none are considered good enough by their home association to manage its national team.

Someone on RAWK replied to the Maddock piece with this...

"Maybe it's time to put Maddock on our list."

I hope they do take him on. He'll tear their heads off and spit down the hole.

Who generalised? Houllier and Rafa did overcomplicate things. Hodgson, from what I've seen of his game and his teams, doesn't. I'm not saying this will be the difference, I just said it would (might?) be refreshing to see.

That would explain why Redknapp and Hodgson have appeared as the two favourites for the role then.

Yeah it is. So is the inability to read a post properly.

Untill Roy is paraded at Anfield I'll keep my hopes up that we anytime soon will see Al Jazeera's WorldCup-expert beeing presented instead - as the new multigazilliondollarrich Dubai-based Liverpool-owners very own 'chosen one'.

There's a stew cooking somewhere and I like the smell of it.

Here's hoping, Kristian. Just to add, Roy's appointment may not necessarily mean the stew's been tipped down the sink. Keep hope alive.

If we are to appoint Roy I'll stand behind him 100 pct. As per.

Who knows maybe he's somehow got the secret formula, you'll never know.

All I'm hoping is for a good shake of the tree to get rid of some of the more dodgy fruits hanging around.

In other words, we could really do with a new bag of fresh fruit..

?

he'll need to win games quickly. good start to the season and the disappointed like myself will be happy. what's his record against the top 3/4 like?

Is it 2 years?

I was on Mancland looking for their views and they think it's three years..They arent too happy about it, incidentally..though it seems to mainly be because they like him personally as opposed to any worries about him doing well for us.

Does it matter considering he was managing Fulham?

But anyway:

Season 2008-2009

2 23.08.2008 Arsenal home W1-0
13 22.11.2008 Liverpool away D0-0
19 28.12.2008 Chelsea home D2-2
24 18.02.2009 Manchester United away L0-3
26 28.02.2009 Arsenal away D0-0
30 21.03.2009 Manchester United home W2-0
31 04.04.2009 Liverpool home L0-1
35 02.05.2009 Chelsea away L1-3

Won 2, Drawn 3, lost 3 (with a poor Fulham team)

Season 2009-2010

23 August 2009 Chelsea H 0–2 (Chelsea: Drogba 39', Anelka 76')
26 September 2009 Arsenal H 0–1 (Arsenal: van Persie 52')
19 December 2009 Manchester United H 3–0 Murphy 22', Zamora 46', Duff 75'
26 December 2009 Tottenham Hotspur H 0–0
28 December 2009 Chelsea A 1–2 Gera 4' (Chelsea: Drogba 73', Smalling 75' (o.g.))
26 January 2010 Tottenham Hotspur A 0–2 (Tottenham: Crouch 27', Bentley 60')
14 March 2010 Manchester United A 0–3 (Man Utd: Rooney 46', 84', Berbatov 89')
9 May 2010 Arsenal A 0–4 (Arsenal: Arshavin 21' van Persie 26' Baird 37' (o.g.) Vela

Won 1, Drew 1, Lost 6

And just for a bit of a laugh:

31 October 2009 Liverpool H 3–1 Zamora 24', Nevland 73', Dempsey 87' (Liverpool: Torres 42')
11 April 2010 Liverpool A 0–0

Im not over the fucking moon about this appointment, but we have to take stock and realise what sort of a position we are in. It sickens me that people on here arent even prepared to give the fella a chance. Fucking having a laugh some of you.

I feel pretty heartbroken right now, as it can't be avoided that we've well and truly fallen off our perch. I'm scared of everybody leaving and the money just going to RBS - definitely not looking forward to the next few months.

That being said, Hodgson is a nice bloke and it's not his fault he's been given the job - of course he wants it and good luck to him. Whatever happens with players, owners, etc, I hope he does the best work of his career with us. I'll definitely be supporting him (at least for a bit) - fair rub of the green and all that...

Good luck Roy!
