The Summer of Suarez

Another thing to consider is that when we sold Torres I think most expected us to bounce back a lot quicker.

Now we're stuck firmly in the second tier of clubs. Would we be able to attract the next Suarez?

And by the next Suarez I mean someone who has already moved past potential and is ready for a big move - like Hazard for example.

If we sell Suarez I honestly see us getting Eriksen in in the £20million bracket and spending the rest of strengthening the squad, it wouldn't be a terrible outcome, but I'd rather keep Suarez.

He'll be gone in the summer I reckon, especially if we get a silly offer of 35-40m.
I would have thought that was a very realistic Lowe end market value Ttp be honest.
I would have thought "silly money" constituted offers in excess of 68m GBP

I don't want to think about it anyway. I am with the we have him for at least one more season thinkers.

regards

Yes, I agree with all this because people are forgetting the wages part of the equation.

If we wanted to replace Suarez with 2 players of his calibre then we also going to need two Suarez type salaries paid out instead of just the one.

Grabbing figures out of thin air and thinking out loud, £100 grand per week is about £5 million a year. The club will need find this extra cash from somewhere to pay this extra player and I reckon it will probably come out of the transfer money we get for Suarez. If we offered this chap a 4 year contract, then it will be £20m from the transfer fee.

So, yeah, £60m is the type of figure that will have our curiosity... and anything much more might have our attention.

The only thing silly about that offer is that it so ridiculously low. He is worth way more both to us as a selling club and to any club he would go to should we sell.... Personally regardless of the fees involved i would be dismayed and disheartened if we were to sell but for 35 to 40M i would lose my tiny mind.

How can you claim he "deserves" to play for another team?
He deserves to be playing for us.

He's made it clear he'll be staying, so other teams can shove their bids where The Lying Rag doesnt shine.
And regardless, he's got a looong contract. We dont have to sell at all. He's our player.

Why? Where we finished last season doesnt matter.
He loves playing for us, the club, the fans, enjoying a fantastic season and seem to believe that we're going somewhere.
Suarez comes across as someone who cares about something more than money.

If we fail to qualify for the CL next season, I imagine he'll consider his future. But I wouldnt be surprised if he stayed regardless.

I'll never believe the bollocks players come out with. Remember this one?

‘˜Liverpool is a massive club in reputation, but as soon as I came here it felt like Atletico to me. It is a working city, an honest city. The people work all week, and on Saturday they want to go to Anfield and watch the best team in the world. I had many offers in football, I had many big clubs to choose from, so I decided on something more than football.
‘˜The people here, the history, the way everybody comes together, I looked at that and I thought we have the chance to make this one of the greatest clubs in the world, again.
‘˜Now I feel Liverpool is my English club, the way Atletico is my Spanish club. I would not like to play for another English or Spanish club. This feeling is very important to me.’

It begins .... 🙁

The Liverpool forward has been strongly linked with the German club, with reports claiming Pep Guardiola has made him a top transfer priority when he takes over in the summer.

Suarez said he would consider a move, but was at pains to state that he was not looking for a move away from Merseyside.

"If Bayern Munich makes an offer I would certainly be willing to listen and think about it," Suarez is quoted as saying in The Metro.
"It doesn't mean I will definitely leave, it just means that I will not automatically reject other clubs."

The speculation may be driven by Suarez's agent - Pere Guardiola, brother of the Bayern manager-elect.

Suarez has repeatedly stated in recent interviews that he was happy at Liverpool, but the club may find a bid in excess of £40-50million difficult to reject.

Well i'm be big time buzzing if he stays this summer. i kind of accepted that he may go in the summer, but the passion he showed when he made it 3-1 against zenit said to me that this is a guy that is genuinely happy here.

1) Those comments arent true and we're actually considering legal action. Read about it a few days ago

2) Bayern have said they havent drawn up a list of targets with Pep yet, which makes all this rather pointless to discuss

Agree, but would add that that passion's been evident all season. He *does* love it here, besides which he's majorly grateful for the support he received from the club last year when he got stitched up. He may not stay with us for ever but he'll give the club every possible chance to match his ambitions.

But Kenny should have thrown him to the wolves after the incident. Then he would have left us last summer, we would be fighting relegation now, but we would be doing it with an air of "better than thou".

And haven't Bayern just signed Llorente and have Kroos who plays in Luis's position - can't see it happening. Which leaves Man City, Real Madrid, Barcelona and PSG as the only clubs that could afford him ( ruling out utd ). Can't really see him moving on this year.

Llorente has gone to Juve mate.
But there are rumours about Lewandowski signing for Bayern this summer

Didn't Gerrard say that Suarez was crying in the dressing room after the game. He hates losing.

Juventus have renewed their efforts to sign Liverpool forward Luis Suarez. The Italian giants, who were interested in recruiting Suarez and Robin van Persie last summer, are in discussions with the Uruguayan’s agent about a possible €30m (£25.6m) transfer after their previous efforts ended when he extended his Liverpool contract until 2018. Juve manager Antonio Conte, according to Sportmediaset, is thought to see Suarez as the ideal strike partner for the incoming Fernando Llorente and given the Spaniard is arriving for free has money to spend.

Well I hope they've got about £50m plus to spend
