The Summer of Suarez

If we sold Suarez, and even if we got 100m+ for him, we'd piss it all away on another Andy Carroll. How long has it taken us to find a good striker? Too fucking long. At the moment, for me, Suarez is priceless.

Too fucking long? Didnt we buy him around the time we sold Torres.... so therefore it probably took us a week or 2 to find one to replace the excellent one we sold....

I have a feeling we actually bought Suarez before Torres left, with the intention of playing them together. Then Torres fucked off and we replaced him with Carroll.

I suppose it all depends on who the scouts / management think they can use the money for both now and in a couple of years. One of the main arguments that is often made for selling ones best player is that the money can be reinvested to buy two or three other players that will help the team. This doesn't hold water in our case because:

1 - we have little experience in doing that unlike teams like Porto that are used to it and have built their entire strategy around it, so I'd have no faith in us doing a good job of it.

2 - if we do use the money to sort out the team and get us closer to the top, we'll suddenly find ourselves needing a Suarez to complete the team.

3 - we don't need 50M to buy a good defender and midfielder. The likes of Milan and other clubs buying on the cheap seem to do a reasonable job of finding quality players for good prices.

4 - Suarez gives us more than just ability. He gives us a fighting spirit and that is a quality that too many others in our team lack for us to simply disregard.

So yeah, I really hope he doesn't force our hand.

Fair point. I worded it badly.

I meant to say, "a striker that could score goals". When Suarez first arrived, he was brilliant at absolutely everything, expect putting the ball in the net. It took him a really long time to find his form.

Problem with Suarez is he goes through phases of scoring everything, then some games he'll miss everything (last week in Russia). Having Sturridge in the team helps take the pressure off him, we could do with another player to help in that regard.

I think apart from Carroll our signings recently have been/turned out to be decent. It's also encouraging that we've being linked to the likes of Eriksen, Strootman etc. I don't have the same fear that we'll sign absolute dross that I used to have.

yeah but his all round play is just world class and has amazing work ethic with a never say die attitude. Finding a player like that is rare these days. Like Ossi said i'd only sell if he wants to leave but for a lot more than £40m.

Incidentally I think that receiving a lot of money for a player like Suarez can be detrimental to our efforts in signing anyone else. Other clubs will know with certainty that we:

a) Badly need replacement(s), and
b) Have a lot of cash

That is not a bargaining position that I generally like us to be in because we end up doing Andy Carrol type deals.

good points bound to put 50% on our transfer targets although we seem to make a habit of getting fucked over in the transfer market.

I just hope we can have a season of Suarez and Studge playing together before Luis fucks off - lets face it we all know he will sooner rather than later. It could be the most potent attack we have had for a long long time - and we could have some fun next season when the partnership has bedded down

Picture this: We sell Suarez for 50 odd million. Then we go and do a 35 million "Andy Carroll" type deal. Can you imagine it? Would it happen? Would we be silly enough to make the same mistake twice? Of course we fucking would. If anyone comes knocking on our door looking for Suarez, no matter what money they offer, we should be trying our absolute best to hold onto him. He's the best thing that's happened to us in years, and we'd be fucking mental to sell him, at any money.

Love how much everything means to
Luis. His not so friendly side will stop him getting the accolades he deserves

Where the fuck is Neymar going to play if we keep Suarez?

Also said, this one African lad "Lampty (sp?)" is the new Pele.

I think he went insane in the end. Well I guess that prediction was sort of nail on.
