The sending off

Perhaps they should include "and/or" instead of just or.

A majority of serious foul play cards wouldn't stand because they can be 2 of 3 things

It was reckless and dangerous

I'm not sure about the reckless mate because I'm not fully sure he knew where the keeper was. But dangerous yes. Which is enough according to the new rules. The problem will be if it's applied with consistency which it won't be

No that's fair enough, I'm probably harsh in my reckless comment. But I'm just flabbergasted by the thoughts it wasn't a red

For once I agree with Gary Neville if it was in midfield it'd of been a yellow, anyway that stupid keeper shouldn't have been so far out of his box.

Carragher is taking his brief to not seem biased towards so seriously he's become a massive pain in the arse. When Neville consistently sounds more sympathetic to LFC than Carra does, you know the world's gone mad. Maybe it's how mancs feel about Neville these days, but I'd much prefer Carragher to be kept well away from anything to do with LFC on the telly.

I've far more respect for Neville's opinion on anything football than Carragher's. I feel he's far more honest.

I don't think it should be a red card but can understand why it was given and why it should be. However, at full pace, getting clattered is a risk that both players take. I don't think either player's actions are unnatural. That said, it was dangerous.

The whole idea that the rules must be applied irrespective of the situation is wrong IMO and referees should be enabled to apply judgement. Not that I'd trust many refs to make the right call.

Actually it's this.

SERIOUS FOUL PLAY

A tackle or challenge that endangers the safety of an opponent or uses excessive force or brutality must be sanctioned as serious foul play.
It was not even a tackle or a fucking challenge. It was two players going for the same ball..one trying to catch/punch and the other trying to kick it where the later never saw the other coming towards him. The speed at which it happened is the issue.

Send off our guy.? No doubt a dubious decision based on variety of comments from around.... and socalled fans spend time to build up the arguments for sending off out guy? Fuck off.. .

It was dangerous and thus now considered serious foul play. I've said it wasn't intentional but that doesn't matter. So red card and the other was trying to head it not punch it. As I've said debate over nothing cos nothing will change with regards the incident, performance or result

Not build up arguments but understand the reasons why

Or people can just say it as they see it.

I think it was a red card.

Do I have to give my season ticket up now cos I agreed with a decision against Liverpool?

Yeh. You're now "so called"

I didn't see the game live. I've done tough mudder today in Chester and didn't get home till 6pm.

So Im typing this 7 hours later, knowing the result, with no anger/rage/heat of the moment, etc.

I've watched all the replays/angles and it was a red card. But it doesn't make me any less of a Liverpool supporter.

Don't think at all he meant to hurt him but you can't have your foot that high, when you are going in for a challenge on a football pitch.

It does yeh cunt. You should be ashamed of yourself. Well done on the Tough Mudder fella

Wasn't a sending off for me. The keeper came charging out like a lunatic and when you're gonna do that you're gonna get whacked sooner or later. Very very harsh.

Haven't read any comments at all so may be quiffing.

He was well within the rules to send him off, no doubt about it.

However, in the sense of the rules of the game, there was no malice involved & no intent to hurt the player.

Imo a yellow would have been more appropriate, but I can't argue a red card.

That's more or less where I am at. Think it was harsh but can't really argue.

I did think he pulled the card out rather fast though without reflecting on it. To be fair I guess it looked clear cut to him.

It wasn't a red and anyone who claims it was isn't a real Liverpool fan. And I'll fight ye. Outside your house so your wife/ girlfriend/ mammy/ da/ siblings/ dogs can see you get a fucking kicking from a REAL Liverpool fan.

Totally agree with you Doc. Definite red all day.
