The sending off

The next definition in rule 12 explains the sending off:
  • Using excessive force is when a player exceeds the necessary use of force and endangers the safety of an opponent and must be sent off
Serious foul play is a sending off offence and it is described as:

SERIOUS FOUL PLAY

A tackle or challenge that endangers the safety of an opponent or uses excessive force or brutality must be sanctioned as serious foul play.

Intent doesn't come into it
I think that last point is in agreement with Mane's action.

So he misses Burnley, and 2 games against Leicester. He probably wouldn't have started the League Cup anyway. It's not that bad all things considered it gives Klopp a way to bring Coutinho back into the fold with no fuss.

1)Had Mane been a millisecond earlier and gone with his head he would be dead right now. Serious foul play? More so than Mane. why wasn't he booked. He had absolutely no INTENTION of pulling out of that charge. And he had a better view.
2) Every striker who has seen it has said they would have had to have gone for that ball.
3) Until rules are reviewed and made crystal clear. Justice and Punishment is a pure lottery. You can get a ten match ban for putting the imprint of your teeth without breaking skin,on an opponent ( )?
Or beak a mans leg in two places and get What (jibrill Cisse) Nothing.

The way many posters want it played is if two players go for a high ball stud's up and both get injured Both must be sent off.

If mane was 2ms later we wouldn't be discussing it. It doesn't matter what might have been, what matters is what happened.

Irrelevant. I'd want mane to go for it if it happened tonight. It's borderline like a game of chicken. On Saturday , neither player blinked

It's dangerous play by both, then yes

But I'm done now

I've got zero interest in the discussion about the veracity of the sending off, rules about violent conduct, or serious foul play or fucking intent.

What is most important, and damaging, is losing our best player for three matches

Both are intrinsically tied unfortunately. And majorly important to our season.

Hence the seemingly anal tail chasing.
