The sending off

I'm in the opposite corner. I don't agree it was a red, for a variety of reasons, but I wouldn't appeal because the FA can also increase the ban by 1 game. Currently Mane will miss games against Burnley and Leicester. If the ban were extended he'd also miss a game against the Mancs. Not worth the risk IMO.

We play Newcastle before the mancs I think Judge.

Ah right, thanks for that.

TBH, despite my view on the merits or otherwise of the decision I'd still tend to let things ride now. I'm not confident (to say the least) that we'd get a sympathetic hearing, so I'd be inclined to cut our losses and leave it at that. The only thing which might persuade me to appeal would be if Mane himself seemed likely to feel let down if we didn't.

They only increase the ban if they think the appeal was frivolous. Given the amount of high profiles pundits saying they think it's not a red card there's no way they'll increase it. Can't see them lowering it either though. Worth a try I guess.

I can't see any chance of them reducing it, it's become the main talking point of the weekend and when that hapoens theybtend to back the ref.

I think we should appeal, it certainly isn't frivolous and all commentators including the opposition manager accepted it was a total accident. 3 match ban for a complete accident is excessive.

Many years in the future...

...I repeat, it wasn't a sending off!

...And I repeat: it was!

...And I repeat, it wasn't!!

...And I repeat, it WAS!!!

...And btw, the soil over the corpse of Lucas is proving incredibly good for the roses.

SHUT UP MODO!!!

Sorry, but what I posted about the incident were facts. So I'm clearly not just speaking for myself.

Sorry, but that's incorrect. What you said was: "If that happened at our end we'd be screaming for a red card." That is NOT a 'fact'. It is an assertion, and you don't have a right to claim to know what the rest of us would say and suggest that everyone but you is a hypocrite.

Guys .. i looked at the incident a number of times today at work during lunch. The whole team studied the footage ..
even an ex welsh footballer... fuck me does it look bad when you see the pace and from the refs angle it kinda looks like he really is going for a Karate chop. There is no way the appeal will work in our favour. We are better off suffering in silence on this one.

@Rosco .. @gkmacca ... get together and act out the Mane incident and take turns in being the goalkeeper.

They don't need that. Macca is very seldom wrong.... so there is a 90% chance he is right. Rosco on the other hand is almost never right. And with you backing his view I guess it wipe out that possibility totally 😉

Does he get an extra game if its unsuccessful? If so, that's bound to happen. No way are the FA going to turn around and say a challenge like that (with the resulting injury) didn't warrant a red card.

Keeper's head was down, his foot was up. It was a potential yellow (not deliberate), and 50/50 a red. DEFINITELY NOT a 3 game suspension

No, I dont think so. We arent appealing that it was a red card, just the number of games. I think we have a good case and could see it reduced to 2 games.

Haven't read the whole thread but that was an abysmal lunge from Mane, and we should never appeal that red. I cannot fathom how anyone would say otherwise to be honest..
