I still think the club overpaid for him but he has surprised me. First he is not injured and almost half the seasons gone and I'm hopeful it will stay that way and 2nd is his commitment and work rate.

He mentioned in the Beeb interview its taken him a while to adjust to the different strategies and way LFC play having been at Arsenal for so long.
He was more marauding yesterday, getting his foot in. Maybe he is the Can replacement everyone keeps talking about

Similar to Robbo, you can tell Klopp has been spending a lot of time in training getting them up to speed on how his teams play. Every game you can see that Ox is faster in possession, more purposeful in his pressing, makes great runs and makes himself available for the ball when he can. He always wants to get involved, and the quality of his input is going up. I've been happy with the purchase since we made it, and I think he's getting to a point where he will get more game time.

I still think he was a luxury signing in the summer given our issues elsewhere but now we need him to prove the management team right by being "one for the future".

He's got a lot of the raw tools and so far there have been some encouraging signs. I like the fact that he's really eager to make an impact and hope he can continue to show the same attitude once he's settled down into the team.

AOC has done nothing but impress me over the past few weeks.

he was boss yesterday , he put in a lallana like shift harassing any opponent on the ball but made some great runs too.

I didn't want him but if he continues in the vein of recent weeks he will be a good acquisition, its too early ro say whether we over paid.

All his hard work and improvement is going to make the punch in his gut all the more sickening when Lallana walks back into the team and he ends up back at right back.

Or the lallana Henderson ox alternative which will have some on here howling at the moon

I think he will be a bit like Lallana in terms of a signing. Initially everyone thought we overpaid but 2/3 years down the line nobody mentions the fee because of his development and suitability for our game. The plus side of Chamberlain is we will get more years out of him. He's got a long way to go to win over all sections of support, but there certainly are promising signs there. He's also pretty bright for a footballer, is keen to impress and has a very good attitude. He speaks really well and is genuinely humble and down to earth. It's no surprise the English lads were keen for him to sign and were no doubt instrumental in him choosing us over Chelsea. I'm very confident Ox will have a decent Liverpool career and always have been. Fingers crossed he'll surpass those expectations.

His versatility and work rate will guarantee him plenty of game time. His game intelligence has surprised me and his recent handling of the media shows what a fine young man he is. I hope he continues to flourish under Klopp and he fulfils the potential that lots will remember from his time at Southampton.

He played yesterday like Can was playing towards the end of last season.

It was a very encouraging performance. Hopefully he takes this forward.

His tackling and ability to the ball back was really good to see and he was repeatedly very positive on the ball. I've always seen him as a slightly iffy winger, but yesterday he looked like a Liverpool midfielder, of a type that we could really use.

Next Liverpool Captain..

Yesterday he showed leadership by putting the Skysports reporter in his place over Coutinho..
Even on the pitch he was barking orders at times..

It was all very Gerrard Esque like..

If he can cement a regular place in the side and fulfil his potential. .. Watch him become a captain in a few years or so..

Can you merge it with the other Ox thread please. Thanks Red Ninja

I was very impressed with him yesterday. He's a grafter for sure. So useful to have and he's pretty perfect for Klopp's pressing game. Did anyone clock his interview with Coutinho on Sky yesterday? That in itself impressed me as well.

If Van Dijk comes he'll be the next liverpool captain.

He has had a poor season.. Don't think he should come with any Captain ambitions here. Next should be Coutinho and should be from summer and onwards.
His head has gone that's why. He has zero interest in playing for Southampton. He's a natural leader on the pitch. He's the most obvious choice to be captain. Ox won't be on the pitch enough to be a captain for starters.

He's a remarkably good sport - early on, when fans were queuing up to dismiss him as an utter waste of money, he agreed to go in disguise in the club shop and ask people what they thought of Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain (a bizarrely cruel and stupid stunt by LFCTV, but he did it very well).

I think, like I said before, that Klopp can make him a better player, and he's clearly working hard to improve. And yesterday in the post match interview, as others have noted above, he showed great maturity and good sense.

Comparing him with Gerrard is going a bit overboard, no?
