Scott Sinclair will not be signing a new contract at Swansea. That's what Michael Laudrup says, here:

"I have spoken to Scott and he confirmed what he said to the chairman that he won't sign a new contract," said Laudrup.

"But he is here now and that's what important for me. You never know what will happen tomorrow or the day after but there is no point arguing about it, we have to get on with it.

"Until August 31 anything can happen. Of course there is interest from a big club in Scott but the only thing I care about in the short term is that it does not effect him for Saturday.

"If it effects the player then we have to talk about. I will talk to Scott and if he says no he does not want to play then we will see, if he says 'I'm a professional' then I know he is in the squad."

Manchester City are, of course, thought to be interested.

I cant see Everton getting him. His wages will be way to high.

Mirallas is on his way to Everton though. 6 mill.

One player Mancini is hoping to sign is Athletic Bilbao's midfielder Javi Martinez, but he accepts that they face competition from a number of other clubs vying for his signature.

"We talked about Martinez with his club but it isn't an easy situation because there are three or four top clubs who want him," he said. "Sometimes it isn't enough to have the money to spend. When there are other top teams after a player it is difficult."

He also admitted that there is "no chance" of landing either Daniel De Rossi, the Roma midfielder, or Daniel Agger, the Liverpool defender.

I read some where else that he said he didn't think that they would sign Agger.
Not quite so categoric.
I think it was the actual quote

Regarding Van Persie, whose transfer to rivals Manchester United was confirmed on Friday, Mancini attempted to shrug off the loss.

He said: "It would have been impossible for him because we would have had five strikers with Van Persie, [Edin] Dzeko, [Sergio] Agüero, [Carlos] Tevez and [Mario] Balotelli. It wouldn't have been easy for me and also for them. You can only play with two or three. I'm happy with my strikers."

Asked directly if it was frustrating not to land Van Persie, Mancini said: "No, we have four strikers so it was impossible to put another striker in the squad, even though he is one of the best."

Of Athletic Bilbao's Martínez, who appears likely to join Bayern Munich, Mancini said: We talked about him with the club. That was another very difficult situation. It wasn't easy."

Roma's Daniele de Rossi and Daniel Agger are not now destined for City, according to the manager: "No I don't think so, it's difficult." Asked why City, despite being regarded as the world's richest club, are missing out on top players, Mancini said: "Sometimes it's not enough to have money to spend. Sometimes you should move quickly because when two or three top teams are after the players it's difficult."

Doesn't this now mean Arsenal will go all out for Sahin ?
Sahin ain't a DM though

They need someone to cover their shoddy defence

IF they get him then fair enough, but its a msssive risk to not get a DM

Villas-Boas outlined the club's intentions to sign a more forward-thinking midfielder.

He told L'Equipe: "He is an interesting player, but I don't think he will join Tottenham. He is a rather defensive player, but I don't think he will join Tottenham.

"We are looking for a more creative player. I won't lie. There was an interest from us in that player, but now we are looking at different options."

They already have one good left sided and they want another!

All they need now is a big target man to get on some of the crosses....
