Ali something...wasn't it? Remember that, funny as a dog with sunglasses.

Ali Dia

After a playing career at the lower levels in France and Germany, and having already had failed trials at Port Vale, Gillingham, and Bournemouth, Dia joined non-league club Blyth Spartans, where he made only one substitute appearance – on 9 November 1996 in a Northern Premier League game against Boston United.
Days later, Dia was signed by Southampton manager Graeme Souness, after Souness received a phone call purporting to be from Liberian international and former FIFA World Player of the Year, George Weah. "Weah" told Souness that Dia was his cousin, had played for Paris Saint-Germain, and had played 13 times for his country. None of this was actually true, and the phone call was made by a fellow university student of Dia's to Souness, suggesting that he should give Dia a chance with Southampton.[2] Souness was convinced, and signed Dia on a one-month contract.

My favourite is when Souness signed someone purporting to be George Weah's cousin for Southampton - on the strength of a faxed reference "from" Weah's.

Even brought him on as a sub once - only to hook him shortly after - having realised he was a pub standard player on the blag.
I vaguely remember this. The guy wasn't even a footballer, as far as I remember. Maybe he played with a Sunday league club at best.

That's the one.

I think Southampton's scouting dept were snapped up by us shortly after this incident.

Rumours abound that we are going to cancel Doni's contract today
Alexander Doni is set to return to Brazil after his Liverpool contract was terminated today.

Personal problems have seen the goalkeeper fail to return to Anfield since the end of last season and has since been replaced by Brad Jones as understudy to first-choice stopper Pepe Reina.

Doni, who made just four appearances since his move from Roma in summer 2011, will now head back to his native South America after a deal was agreed with the Reds to terminate his current deal.

Last week the 33-year-old broke his silence to dismiss suggestions that ankle problems and an unhappiness with his status at Liverpool had factored into his stay away from Merseyside.

He has become the second outgoing from the club on transfer deadline day, following Dani Pacheco's move to Spanish second division side SD Huesca on loan until the end of the season.

WBA want £5million for Odemwingie. QPR will only go to £3.5m. Odemwingie has spoken to Tech Director Dan Ashworth. Desperate to leave.

Strange that QPR won't just pay the extra, bearing in mind what they've shelled out on Samba.

If this doesn't happen, Odemwingie is going to have a very "interesting" rest of the season.

What the fuckity fuck? Has the world gone mad?

12.5 million for Samba? 34 fucking million for Willian?!?!
