Salah is a good player I'm sure - I don't know how good he'll be with us, but regardless, I think this is a mistake. We have far more pressing issues and leaving us with only Gerrard, Allen and Henderson as CMs for 2 months until Lucas recovers (probably longer as it will take him a while to get sharp again) is really really stupid.
I don't really get the Salah signing at this current time if I'm being honest. It will stunt Sterling's excellent season for sure, and will keep Sturridge or Coutinho pissed as one of them will be rotated with him around Suarez. We are scoring goals ... we are leaking them in far too quickly and that is FAR more of a concern.
If he's a target, wait for the summer where we'll either sell Suarez with no 4th place or we'll need a bigger squad for the CL.

I think Mourinho wants his midfielders to cover a lot of ground - Mata may be viewed as a bit of a luxury and not suited to his strategy. I wonder whether options on Rooney are going to be part of the deal.
