Seriously though if I was the American owners looking at us having spent 35m on Carroll, 17m on Downing, 17m on Henderwank, 23m on Suarez, 8m on Enrique and 6m on Coates and seeing the shit we serve up as we fumble around and fuck up any kind of assault on 4th.
And then look at Spurs who have spent 8m on Van der vaart, 5m Parker, 0m Adebayor, 7m Gareth Bale and 16m on Modric and the way they play football, id be fucking livid and loathe to give Kenny and Comolli a penny.

We have TOTALLY mispent a fucking fortune.

The difference between how effective he is and how effective he should be for $20m is so large that it seems impossible for him to traverse the distance without resort to supernatural aid like a broomstick or magic carpet.

I suspect the answer might be that good young players who show a good attitude, good touch, vision, intelligence, passing ability etc. can turn into great players if they get 'game time'. But big lumbering shithouses who are shit trainers, make crap poorly timed runs and can't hit a cow's arse with a banjo are less likely to turn into great players just because you keep playing them.

I actually think Carroll will be ok though, never worth 35m though bov.
