Trabzonspor:

Columbian striker Teofilo Gutierrez was the star of the show in Trabzonspor's Turkish Super Cup triumph over reigning Super Lig champions Bursaspor earlier this month. His quickfire second-half hat-trick secured his side a 3-0 victory and their first Super Cup since 1995.

The South American struggled to adapt to the Turkish league after joining Trabzonspor from Columbian side Junior Barranquilla in January, but he has hit the ground running this season, following up his Cup final goal haul with a brace in the opening league game against Ankaragücü last weekend.

If he's not the best defensive midfielder in the world, who is?
Poulsen, obv.

Wow , it's sold out apparently.

Anyone got any spares for one of my lads?

regards

I was tempted to go but left it till yesterday to mention it to the missus (to take the kids). Gutted to miss out at that price 🙁
Yeah, crump mentioned that it was 10 pds in some thread but I didnt notice until day before yesterday (was too busy preparing for an interview for a job I didnt get)

('I don't think you have the sales experience to provide parties with a "mutually rewarding link" (TM)')

No shit, Sherlock, I'm a lawyer...why the fuck did you call me then.

Sorry, rant over.

Anyway, missed out.

Carra's game is 20 pds,Mark..I'm going for that.
Yeah I was looking at that one, I've just had loads on and have loads coming up, just had the missus' birthday and then my Mum is getting married in Sept and it's my daughter's 18th in Oct, then leading upto Xmas.... ARRRGGGGHH! So I'm a bit skint, I'll be gutted to miss Carra's testimonial though so will try and swindle it somehow.

To be fair though, we could probably print a similar story about N'Gog...

Don't think you can say who's the best midfielder in the world really.

I know for startes that I'll personally prefer Essien over Masher any day in that role. That Dutch maniac-bloke from Bayern is in his own way a rather effetcive DM as well. Wouldn't want him anywhere near our club but I'm just saying.

Masher is upthere with the very best however.

Not really.

That doesn't mean he can't be a very good one. Don't think Hamann was ever rated as one of the best in the world either but he still played a major part for us.

PS According to Roy who pointed Poulsen out as one of ten players to watch at the WC he's probably upthere with the very best. There's a reason the likes of Barca has been on his track for many years you know.

Babel Time ladies and gentlemen and he will play the center-forward position he loves most .Trabzon will kamikaze spend attack for an away goal and babel will score on the counter .

Without doubt! Though I'm sure if he gives a glimmer of a half decent performance we'll have the usual mentalists on here later proclaiming he's fulfilling his potential (again).

I'm at that point where I want him sold now to raise funds because £9M-12M is worth much more to us than Ryan Babel, but I still don't hate him as a player.

I think he's a bit brainless and average, but he can be dangerous and direct, and at times we've needed that in the past.

If it's not going to get sold I'm hopeful Hodgson will get more out of him than Benitez, because he's got a better record of getting more out of average players.

looking forward to this tonight, taking my 4yr old to his first game.

Not sure whether he is more excited about staying up late or the match, although he has been practicing signing "poor scouser tommy".

I just hope he doesn't wanna leave after 20 minutes....

I'll keep my fingers firmly crossed it'll be a great night for you, your kid and Liverpool FC then.

It'd be like

Reina
Kelly Carra Kyrgiakos Aurelio
Lucas Poulsen
Maxi Cole Babel
Jova

I'd imagine
Yup. I guess Babel and Jova could swap around, too.

I'd like to see Babel on the right. The few times he's played there, he's looked much more like a proper winger - going past defenders on the outside, getting crosses in etc.

IMO whoever's going to play no 10 against City (Aquilani? Maxi? Gerrard?) should play it today, to get a bit of practice in, with Cole on the left and Babel on the right.

He'll be excited if it's his first time and might forget the words tho.

I'm just saying that tho.

It happened to me, but I am not smarter than a 4 year old.
