Yes, he's a Liverpool fan who is acting like a bitter little twat because his beloved Brendan has gone, so he's getting close to being actionable about the new manager.

He goes to some of the games with the London Northern Ireland supporters club, where he takes stick with remarkable good grace. He seems like a properly good chap.

I expect he is in most ways. Try and get him to have a word with himself over his sourness towards Klopp. It'll twist him out of shape if it continues.

Jason Cunty was pooned by that twat Brazil this morning. Brazil mentioned that Cundy had proclaimed some time earlier that there was a cancer at the heart of the club and asked him to eloborate. Cunty replies no np no I never said that ! no doubt worried he will become persona non grata at Stamford Bridge. Two minutes later in the discussion Brazil plays back the clip in question where Cunty definitely comments " there is a cancer at the heart of the club" Cunty responds repeatedly no I never said that despite the fact it had just been broadcast for all to hear ! What a knobhead,

If you can be outmanoeuvred by Alan Brazil, I'd probably think about a new career direction.

BBC's Norn Irelander Alan Green is also a Liverpool fan. He was sitting in the stand near my Bro, Vlad's Quiff, on one occasion and he stood up and cheered at half-time when the news came through that Manchester United were losing.

Ah, I've not listened to him recently so have missed that side of him, he must have got a chin stroke.

Still my fav commentator growing up 🙂 and also the best virtual commentator on any video game, Olympic football - Sega Saturn.

You genuinely wouldn't know it from his commentaries though, which is exactly as it should be. He's a professional whereas Cundy is just an oaf.

I visit the BBC messageboards and it surprises me how many people complain about Alan Green. I think that is because he calls it as he sees it. He's not one of those mealy-mouthed commentators who say "He will be disappointed with that shot" instead of "That was a rubbish shot" as Green would say.

Years ago I was at Fratton Park for a cup game on a Sunday afternoon, and in the pub next to it Colin Murray was standing on a table singing Liverpool songs at the top of his voice and generally drawing loads of attention to himself. I asked my mate why you'd do that if you were him, and he said 'Radio 1 DJ being an attention seeking tosser, who'd have thought it' and looked at me like I was a dickhead. Which was fair enough. Anyways that was ages ago, he was probs just a kid. Used to think he was good on fighting talk on 5Live.

Haven't listened to TalkSport for aeons, but kinda shocked some of you think Collymore is alright. He's a fucking moron, blames his vileness on depression which is a cunt's trick, the two things are mutually exclusive... and he preaches about shit he's got no idea about... and If that Goldstein is the one that used to be on soccer am then he's a contemptible little cunt and all. Fucking Alan Brazil etc... I hope ISIS storm the place and Charlie Hebdo the fucking lot of them.

Perhaps but I have to admit that, despite his allegiance and his excellent commentating skills, I've also found Alan Green trying at times because of his tendency to go off on one. For example, when squad numbers were first introduced in place of the starting eleven always being numbered 1 to 11, he was forever mithering about it. Another time was when he decided the commentary box at a particular club (can't remember which) was a mess and spent half the evening complaining about that. He knows he's got a rep as a "character" and at times he can try too hard to play up to that. When he simply sticks to commentating on the game - and describing the atmosphere at big games, at which he also excels - there's none better.

I don't like Collymore or his style of broadcasting but I disagree with all of that bolded bit. He's a pretentious motormouth but I don't think he's a moron, and I've known (and been apologised to by) a couple of people who behaved abominably, were then diagnosed with depression and didn't do it any more.

It's the Alastair Campbell defence. I've been there too. I've done horrible stuff while being depressed, but for me it's very grey, you can't simply blame the depression. You gotta accept responsibility for what you do no matter what your mood, the alternative is to always find a syndrome to explain every action you take. Pulling out the depression excuse turns the entire situation on its head and you get Collymore expecting sympathy when he's been the arsehole. I've tried it myself, but it's dishonest.

Good post and I substantially agree with it. For me the key is if someone says, as you do above, "I am/have been depressed but I should still not have done that". My understanding was that that was the line Collymore had taken. If on the other hand he's said "I'm depressed so you can't blame me", I completely agree that's not acceptable.

Yeah, it is grey, it is only my opinion, but I do think he's an arsehole despite the diagnosis.

Perhaps Mourinho is depressed and this explains some of his behaviours?

By the way I find TalkSport irritating mainly because of those long ad-filled spells.

Indeed. I used to hate Alan Greene when he commented on United in their pomp in the 90s with Keane Ince Giggs et al... He used to be sooo enthusiastic... This in conjunction with my knowing that he was a Liverpool fan was too much to take.

But considerably better than the vast majority of commentators.

I can't get talk sport out here but I may have mentioned that I fucking hate, detest, loathe, feel ill will towards and generally object to Martin fucking Tyler. At least with Trevor Francis you can smile underneath knowing that his bitterness stems from his own failure to play for us...

It is the same Goldstein. He's a smug Manc rat.

As for Collymore, it's one thing to explain your behaviour, but as you say to blame your actions on depression is, in my opinion wrong.

I also was an obnoxious fucking moron when I was depressed. But I was still a fucking moron. I happily acknowledge my actions as my own and solely my responsibility. It's part of the reason why I'm beating the depression.
