It allowed him to then incorporate his new signings with more success, but he changed the system around completely too, it was a big decision which also worked and was less reliant on personnel and focused more on packing the defense. Toure and Lucas helped settle us down, definitely, but even without Toure last night, the system continued to work. He's gone back to the drawing board and seemingly adjusted himself, which is one big plus that gives me hope with him, he does tend to have a few systems up his sleeves and isn't afraid to try what looks baffling to many of us. Particularly things like having Markovic running from deep as a makeshift wingback.

It seems as if Brendan decided to go back to basics and play the "tried and trusted", which proved to be the right decision.
Out went basically all our new signings, in came Touré and Lucas and we haven't lost since (except the game where he decided to bench Lucas for no reason at all)

I'm not sure why he has been so resistant to Lucas in recent times, didn't Rodgers start out by saying he's a key midfielder to the way he wants to play?

It is pleasing that Rodgers can pull something out of the bag to get the best out of what he has, sometimes it feels like it takes him too long but I guess the danger is changing things up and not giving new systems a fair go.

Sterling escaped without punishment, thank fuck. I suppose it's like Gary Neville was saying afterwards, there's no way on earth the linesman could say he didn't see Sterling's one, seems as he was face to face with him.
