Suarez needs assistance from his team

Not sure if this stat has been noted before, but prior to his enforced leave, we didn't score a single goal in the Premier League when Suarez wasn't on the pitch. I noticed it early in the season, that when Suarez was subbed against Exeter, we stopped having the same movement and didn't score again.

I'm not going to try and calculate the minutes he was off the pitch, but it I'm right (we only scored once against Brighton and twice versus Chelsea in the Carling) we relied far too much on the goofy South American.

There is another thread saying we scored more without Suarez, but perhaps the truth is we just relied on him far too much and having a spell without him has made some players finally step up and make their mark. He can be a greedy fucker, but we need his colleagues (Gerrard fit of course) to start helping him out.

To be honest Ian, I'm fairly certain that this was the exact point that FFF was making in his original thread (correct me if I'm wrong Mr Fox) but it has been hijacked by the Suarez is the root of all evil brigade.

I'd wait for Foxy just to be sure, but that's how I took it.

*sets up camp. Eyes "Suarez actually ruined LFC team" through binoculars*

Ian the Red is righter than consensual lovemaking between 2 legally aged and unattached people.

I do think we were wrong to cast him in a CF position though. We took advantage of what a difficult cunt he is to play against, and left him fairly isolated in loads of games, knowing he'd still be a nuisance. On the right/left of a front three with Carroll as the spearhead Suarez and Carroll could prosper. Didn't Suarez score most of his goals when Andy was playing? I think this is so. Andy has improved in Luis's absence, so we need to cash in on both torturing defences. Add the welsh wizard into the mix, and we've got a top 4 push going on.

Suarez needs assistance from Gerrard and other class midfielders that we don't have, yet.

Bellamy-Carroll-Suarez would be nice. Kuyt for Bellamy when he runs out of gas or when we want to secure a lead. Carroll has potential and he's finally starting to show it- give him a regular spot in the team.

Yeah, I fully expected Suarez absence to mean other players stepped up to the plate.

I also think he does take too many chances himself when he could opt for others, but all confident forwards do this (bellers last night twice could have squared to Carroll for example). Suarez will take more of his chances now he's had an enforced rest, so hopefully both factors will mean we kick on & convert way more chances.

How many times did Luis go it alone either because there was nothing else on for him or because he couldn't be confident that teammates would make something of it? Hopefully that's a lot less likely to apply now.
